Biography

“Music can be like driving into a sunset: blinding and real. I want to inspire people to pull over, get out of their car for a moment, and enjoy what’s setting in front of them.”

Inspired by folks like Mason Jennings, Martin Sexton, and Ani DiFranco, Maura Rogers is a combination of strong vocals, subtle guitar playing, and thought-provoking lyrics. She is equipped with a history in theater performance, having first dived on stage as a wee-first grader singing about being naughty and nice. In classic American debt for having invested four years acting and reading in college, she spent the past few years searching for the most fitting way to tell stories. After some long stints with grassroots theater projects, the folk scene grabbed hold of her and has kept her captive. This Ohioan is known for her magnetic stage presence-- turning loud, rowdy bar crowds into quiet, thoughtful listeners. Recently, she performed at Oven Production’s 31st Annual Women’s Variety Show in Cleveland, the longest running female variety show in the US of A.
