"Duane Nardocchio"

"Weather he is singing original songs derived from life experiences or offering up his own rendition of well know tunes of a similar style, Jason MacDonald is subtle, heartfelt, charming and engaging. With smooth vocals, polished guitar work and story telling that paint the pictures to the songs he sings, everything blends splendidly.”

"Bill MacNeil - General Manager/Program"

"Jason MacDonald is one of the most refreshing young artists our island of Cape Breton has seen in some time. In this day of tuned vocals and studio tricks, Jason is a throw back to the days when artists had a unique sound and could capture the audience with clear, clean vocals and perform their material just as well onstage as in the studio. One listen and you're hooked, solid songs, great vocals and a great communicator with an audience...a pure singer-songwriter"

“These are real songs, and certainly not a CD thrown together in a fleeting moment. If this is but a sampling of Jason’s writing ability, then I’m certain we will be hearing more for a very long time to come.”......

BIOGRAPHY

Singer/songwriter Jason MacDonald’s passion for music plays out in a driving acoustic fashion, wonderful storytelling and a warm personality that connects immediately with his audience. The home he makes with his wife and two young daughters in a close-knit , Cape Breton community, both in and out of doors, is a source of songwriting inspiration that seemingly never goes dry. Jason draws on the stories of his family including his grandparents who had deep roots in the Gabarus Lake area of Cape Breton, not to mention his own experiences fishing lobster, building houses, crafting furniture, growing Christmas trees, hosting a radio program, and, of course, writing songs and playing his music for fans from Cape Breton to Milwaukee. Since 2002 Jason has released three full length CDs and one EP of original material.  Tracks from his CDs has received significant radio airplay. His music has earned him award nominations from Music Nova Scotia, East Coast Music Awards, Independent Singer-Songwriter Assoc. and Top Honours in the Indie International Songwriters Contest. He has showcased at NS Music Week, East Coast Music Awards and Canadian Country Music Awards. A track from his last recording was chosen for the Atlantic Film Festival Music and Images Compilation. Recently he has licensed a track form one of his CDs to Sailing – Classics of Germany for use in promoting their cruise ship business. Jason performs as a solo, duo or three piece band, depending on  venue requirements. He has toured five time in the US doing shows booked through New England Celtic Arts. He has performed at several festivals that include the Milwaukee Irish Festival, Celtic Colours International festival, Kempt Shore Acoustic Festival and Acoustic Roots Festival to name a few. He has participated and hosted numerous songwriter’s circles with the best songwriters in Eastern Canada. Jason frequently shares the billing with a fiddler. This combine is very appealing to audience with the variety of instrumental and vocal music. Initial performances at a venue is usually always followed by request for return engagement. Following showcase at NSMW in November 2016 Jason was immediately offered a performance by the artistic director of Calgary Folk Club. Show is schedule for November of 2017 and other venues in western Canada have offered to add performances while he is in western Canada.
