Freakwitch defies simple categorization. They are a high-energy rock band, but play acoustically. Their influences include the jam band scene, progressive rock, reggae and 80s alternative music among them. Above all Freakwitch is about one thing: exchanging energy with each other and their audience.

Artist Information

Biography

Freakwitch defies simple categorization. They are a high energy rock band, yet the rhythm section plays acoustic instruments. The singer (Matthew) cut his teeth in the jam band scene, the rhythm guitarist (James) is into progressive rock, the lead guitarist (Todd) takes his influence straight from the guitar gods, the bassist (Yo) loves reggae, and the drummer (Brent) has a thing for 80s alternative music. But one thing defines what Freakwitch is all about: exchanging energy with each other and their audience.

Brent's solid, exuberant drumming, Yo's fluid, melodic bass playing, Todd's rich, resonant leads, and James's inimitable acoustic guitar stylings (he thinks of his guitar as a percussion instrument) create a savory sonic landscape for Matthew, an engaging lyricist and a charismatic frontman. Freakwitch songs have a captivating energy that entices you to dance and trance.

"Our music is sacred to us. We've spent a lot of time and energy crafting what we're about. It sticks in your head, and there is a subtle depth to it. It resonates with our audience. The world deserves to hear these songs."

Freakwitch is an experience that leaves you lighter than when you came in. Come along for the ride. It doesn't work without you.
