Andy Hawk & The Train Wreck Endings

Genre: Americana
Secondary Genre: Folk Hamilton, Virginia USA Contact

At times, it's mid-'60s Bob Dylan singing with the Old '97s, but the style is hard to classify, and I think that's a good thing. Let's call it a unique voice delivering songs that make you swear you can taste that first cold drink while you're sitting in a dark dive bar on a hot, summer's day.

Biography

I want to write songs that other people want to sing. That's my ultimate goal. While I'm trying to make that happen, I'm going to continue to write, record, and perform my songs for as many people as I can. I'll sing 'em myself for now, and that's OK, too.

Our style is difficult to describe because it includes elements of Americana, Blues, Folk, Pop, and acoustic-driven music. It sounds like now and it sounds like then, so it's unique.

In late 2011 I released my 7th CD - and third with the band, called "Another Storyline". We're a flexible group that can come as a full 5-piece band with drums, as a quartet with percussion, or as an acoustic trio - I also do some solo acoustic shows.

My biggest influence is the Beatles, but I also love Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, the Replacements, the Ramones, Paul Simon, Brian Wilson, Robert Earl Keene, Peter Case, Old '97s, Colin Hay, and the old '50s rockers like Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, and Johnny Cash.

We also are capable of playing cover songs. We have a list of more than 150 covers ranging from The Beatles to Johnny Cash to the Cure to Wild Cherry to John Denver to the Knack. We're versatile and professional and play about 50 gigs a year.

Setlist

Sets: 1- 4 hours, depending on the venue.
Set List: flexible. We can either be a cover band or do all originals. We have enough material for both and mix them around liberally. We tailor our sets to the mood in the room.

We can bring our own equipment, or we can use a basic backline/p.a. system. We travel light, mainly bringing just acoustic guitar, mandolin/harmonica, and bass

Compensation varies depending on the gig and the venue - we're flexible and easy to work with. We sometimes get $600 for a 3-hour set, but average around $200-$300 per performance, which is usually from 2 to 3 hours.
