Artist Information

Biography

Laura Lisbeth is a performing songwriter with a unique, fresh approach to writing lyrics and melody, and the vocal chops to convey them beautifully. Her songs have won recognition in publications such as American Songwriter.

Songwriting for Laura was born of necessity: She wanted to sing songs that were suited to her personality -- songs that were intelligent, honest, brave, daring, sometimes maybe a little funny. When you hear a Laura Lisbeth song you can expect the unexpected.

Today Laura draws from the tradition of guitar-driven folk to deliver songs of stunning beauty and emotional complexity. Her music – a blend of Americana/Pop/Folk - and her sound have prompted comparisons to that of Jewell, Aimee Mann and Mary Chapin Carpenter.

As a live performer, Laura builds an immediate connection with her audience through her music and her personality. The result is an irresistible mix that keeps audiences coming back for more.

In Fall 2011, she began work on her 2nd CD project, with an expected completion date of Spring/Summer 2012.

A solid member of the KC area songwriting community, Laura hosted a songwriter night for two years at the Power Plant in Parkville at at time when no other female songwriters were doing anything like it. In 2010, she shared co-hosting responsibilities for a “Songwriter In the Round” event on First Fridays at ARTichokes Gallery in Leawood, KS. She currently performs regularly at galleries, festivals, and other venues in the Kansas City area.
