Biography

The Sound you have been waiting for... In the heart of the blueberry capital of the world, the awesome power of sound known as Relay exists. Carrying with them each the power of ability, originality, and of course the honor of being able to enjoy music in all it's glory. The five members of Relay, consisting of, Mark Penza (guitar/vocals), Mark Catalfamo (drums/piano/guitar/vocals), Rich "Adhd" Penza (bass), John "J.R"Renyolds (bass) and Rich DeMarco (drums/trombone) have spent nearly all their lives together as if brothers. Sharing the same schools, churches, parks, playgrounds and their great affinity with rock and roll music. The five members also share the merit, value, and excitement in each others music that's so close to their hearts. Mark "oill" Penza plays his guitar with the ease and ability like an uninhabited painter, enjoying the art first and formost for himself and not intrigued by trying to impress others (though he can). "Oill" breathes in heavily from the alternative rock form, with it's thrashing powerchords and unique stab at the rock and roll formula. Bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Local H, Bush, Weezer, Beck, and the Stone Temple Pilots to name a few, top his favorites' list. "J.R" plays the bass guitar as if it was a magical weapon, honed by a powerful knight, deep, dark and thick. Fav bands Danzig, Beatles, and a whole lotta rock. Choosing the sound that has been reinforced for over forty years, Marky J.C. draws an endless admiration from both classic rock bands and timeless soul and R'nB artists. Bands such as the Beatles, the Who, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, the Beach Boys, the Grateful Dead, Credence Clearwater Revival, the Hendrix Experience, Cream, and Pink Floyd form the classic half. Groups like the O'Jays, the Spinners, the Temps, the Tops, the Drifters, the Stylistics, the Delfonics, Wilson Pickett, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Otis Redding form the soul half. On drums is the awesome force Richie "the C" deMarco, whose style is raw, unabashing and dangerous, very simular to the ways of Moon the Loon from the Who, and Bonzo from led zep. Lastly when called into action the ready and willing bass guitar, slap master, and super trebbled out to the max....Big Rich Penza shows up right on time. Long time blues man, and an even longer funk lover, "Adhd" draws much from both. Separately the members of Relay are very capable and attentive to their music styles, but when together, the brothers of Relay are a force in this day and age matched by no one. The path has already been chosen for the members of Relay, all that stands now is history.
