His two appearances on my PBS program, Jakers: The Adventures of Piggley Winks, were a resounding success. His music is catchy, clever and singable. The kids in our studio audience went wild for his hit song, “Ruby the Rescue Cow.” I look forward to working with Uncle Eye again.” Larry Swerdlove Producer/Director

The students just loved them (so did the teachers). They had never been exposed to such an interactive performance and are still talking about it.

Facility: La Casa de las Madres
Host: Sandy Popovich
Essence Story by Sandy Popovich:
Uncle Eye (Ira) and his partner Julia were full of fun at this shelter for
battered women and children.
Ira is the supreme entertainer and multi-tasker, singing silly songs with
his guitar, adding costumes and sound effects along the way, and
incorporating his rubber chicken - Pollo Elastico.
The children really enjoyed this engaging, positive, friendly, male adult in
this totally female environment. Throughout the performance, the kids came
up to Ira and created chaos - touching his guitar, running around, etc. He
managed the interruptions like a pro, always making them feel safe and never
missing a beat in his performance.
One of Ira's songs had the theme - "you can make something out of nothing."
It was about a tailor who kept remaking his coat into something new (a coat
becomes a jacket, a jacket becomes a scarf, a scarf becomes a hankie, etc).
The song was the perfect anthem for this group of at risk women. Bread &
Roses brought happiness and hope to this group of brave women in need of
change for themselves and their children.

The artist winds through perfectly produced songs that give the term 'quirk' a spin while supported with rock vocals and instrumentation - along with a few sound effects and background vocal oohs and ahhs. The titles say most of it, but then the tunes begin and complete the package. The first track, "Ruby the Rescue Cow", is an ode to the Chicago fire. Track 2, "Pollo Elastico", is a tribute to that brand of rubber chicken that can be ridden by a singer. . . Track 4, "Hyperactive Talking Cows" is equally nuts as the lyrics go, 'lets put on our dancing boots, manicure your unibrow, put on your fruit salad suits. .and the grownups sing, sugar and coffee, sugar and coffee. .wearin zip lock pantaloons, i was dancin' with a red balloon. .' Track 7, "Baseball Team from Outer Space", describes the Universe Series should it be played with over confident aliens, 'we're the best team in the universe, we'll come in first'. The final track is a surprise. After all the TMBG-tinged tunes and quirk comes "Captain Tree". True, the topic is a tree with such punnish lyrics as 'leaf your worries behind'..but the writing, performance, and production is that of a gorgeous independent college radio gem. We love the entire album, but the final track seals the deal.
