Biography

Since age 11, Tracy Hamlin has been spreading her gift of music to audiences of all diversities. Her limitless vocal and songwriting abilities have placed her in a unique position to offer her audience a well- rounded, unforgettable music experience.

This Baltimore native built her music career on the solid foundation of education, studying classical music at the Baltimore School of the Arts and further training at the Prestigious Peabody Preparatory School of Music.

A former pageant winner, holding the title of Miss Baltimore and Miss Talented Teen of Maryland, Tracy draws inspiration for her music from her life experiences and those who surround her. She has performed with music greats such as Carlos Santana, Marcus Miller, Jonathan Butler, Kirk Whalum, Wayman Tisdale, Rick Braun, Jeff Golub, Acoustic Alchemy and Richard Elliott to name a few. In recent years, Hamlin was the lead vocalist with Heads Up International recording artists, Pieces of a Dream. Tracy toured internationally with the group and was featured on “No Assembly Required” (2005) and “Love’s Silhouette” (2002).

While Tracy Hamlin is perhaps best known for her longtime association with Pieces of a Dream, her first solo album, “Seasons” set the tone for her to take her place center stage. Featuring both Najee on flute and Pieces of a Dream, this stellar collection from 2005 proved to be a wonderful representation of her rich vocal tones. Attracting both R&B and jazz aficionados, “Seasons” was a glowing affirmation of her burgeoning talent.

Now, Tracy is back with her sophomore album, “Better Days”. An excellent follow up to “Seasons”, “Better Days” gives the listening audience an accurate illustration of Ms. Hamlin’s musical world. Songs like, “You’ve Got To Let Go” and “No Regrets”, pleasantly place one in a position of self-reflection while “Better Days” and “Free” offer lyrics of hope and optimism for the future. With producers, Phil Davis, Eric Valentine and Kelvin Wooten on board, “Better Days” is sure to take listeners on a refreshing musical journey.

  Anyone who rides in my car gets a personal introduction to the cd, such an outstanding and superb selection of music. A little something for everyone. This is a classice that can be played for many years and Tracy's voice will always give you chills. Tracy you have a voice that could only be given by God. Still I Rise has always been one of my favorites (a testimony for me), but after hearing Tracy sing it all I can say is WOW what a powerful voice.   This cd I brought it when it first came out and I am still listen to it. Evertime I her this cd it feels like the first time. So if you do not have it go get it you will love it she is one of the best singers that I have heard in a lond time I can't wait tell they start playing here music world wide beacuse she needs to be heard by everyone and I believe they will love this music. A place called home is one of my favorite songs when I hear it brings tears to my Eyes because it makes me think of my dad. so again if you don't have the cd go get you will say thats what my cd racks been missing.

  This CD is "OUTSTANDING." I bought it mainly for "Heaven's a place called home" which is magnificant, but the entire CD is awesome. This girl can Sang!!   I'm really enjoying Tracy's CD. It's a pleasure to hear songs that are postive and upbuilding. I was impressed with the music and lyrics. Tracy has a strong beautiful voice. I'm very happy and excited for her. I love all the songs, my favorites are "Because I Am Special", "Seasons" and Tracy's rendition of "Still I Rise".   WOW! I totally loved Seasons! I let my husband listen to it and now I need to buy one for myself because he won't give it back! My favorite song is A Place Called Home. The song brings me to tears because it's so well lyrically and musically written, and her beautiful voice is the icing on the cake.   Tracy is an ageless talent that seems to have been around forever. The time has come for the entire world to experience and enjoy the phenomenal, soulful singing of this talented artist. All of the tracks on the CD can be listened to and enjoyed over and over again, however, A Place Called Home and Still I Rise showcase her vocal richness, versatility and range. Seasons is smooth as butter and sends you to a relaxing place and Been There, Done That is funky and sassy just like Tracy. She is a diva and deserves all of the accolades that are sure to come.   In recent years Tracy was featured on various cd's as a guest vocalist. Now she made her debut as a solo artist and it is a great debut. Besides a very gifted singer Tracy turns out to be a fine composer too, the songs she (co-)wrote are among the best songs on the album. There is not a bad song on this cd. In my opinion the ballads "A place called home" , "again" and "Still I rise" are the highlights. The musicians on this album are among the best, Gerald Veasley, David Dyson, Najee, James Lloyd, Chris Harmon, John Stoddart etc. Check it out and you won't be disappointed
