Biography
Marcus' brother is world famous keyboard player Sydney James Wingfield. Marcus has played music for over 40 yrs starting in the church. Saul has played horn for 30 yrs, and has recorded 2 CD's with the Saul Lubaroff Quartet. He is a total jazz geek at heart, but loves to play that funk, and sing that soul. He is from Philly after all! Nik grew up in Omaha, and was influenced as a kid by the great sounds of Steely Dan, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, to name a few. Nik just completed his MA in Jazz Studies at the Univ. of Iowa. Newest member Thomas Ott on guitar adds another element of Jazz fusion to the Ship. Brian Cooper worships the drum gods named Steve Gadd and Bernard Purdie. Coop is the rock that GrooveShip stands on and his sponge-like ability to lock in any kind of groove is quite frightening.
Instrumentation
Marcus Perkins is on the electric bass and vocals.
Saul Lubaroff plays all of the saxophones, flute and vocals. Nik Gruber and Thomas Ott on guitar and Brian Cooper keeps the groove steady on the drums.
