Artist Information
Biography
Based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the Billy Bauer Band has built their fan base the old fashioned way, through years of touring and great live performances. With a sound reminiscent of Dave Mathews Band, Counting Crows, Death Cab for Cutie, and Jack Johnson, they have garnered acclaim throughout the Northeast as a consistently engaging act with a crisp, bright sound.
Founded by Billy Bauer (vocals, guitar) and Chris Lorenzetti (electric violin, piano) in 2006, the Billy Bauer Band began as an acoustic duo, and evolved to incorporate the solid rhythm section of Drew Somers (percussion) and Cody Hamlin (bass).
Within just a few months of their first show in 2006, the band landed a spot in one of the most prestigious independent music festivals in the world- the “CMJ Music Marathon” (New York, NY). They have gone on to play the largest festivals in the nation, including Musikfest (Bethlehem, PA), Arts Fest (State College, PA), and the Herndon Festival (Herndon, VA). As their reputation grew, they were booked as an opening act for top billboard artists Uncle Kracker, Dispatch, and O.A.R.
Although they possess the ideal sound for festivals and outdoor concerts, they have also performed at some of the most prestigious rock venues in the northeast, including:
?The Bitter End, The Living Room, and Sullivan Hall (New York, NY)
? The Grape Room, World Café (Philladelphia, PA)

With those dreams inside your mind” -Run Away
Imagine Dave Matthews mixed with John Mayer and you have the Billy Bauer Band hailing from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. After reading his father’s last words to him: “Billy keep playing guitar – you sound pretty good,” vocalist Billy Bauer made it his life to chase his musical dreams.
Billy Bauer (acoustic/vocals), Chris Lorenzetti (electric violin/ piano), Cody Hamlin (bass), and Drew Somers (drums) have been creating music together since 2006. Their unique sound and positively amazing lyrics catch you singing before you even know all the words. “Everything in life inspires my writing,” Billy states when I asked them how the words and music blended to create their original tunes. Billy uses the lyrics of his songs to tell stories, share experiences, and even vent his own issues. The band has compiled two albums of their original work: Best of Both Worlds and Another Day is Coming.
“I never thought I would be a musician,” Billy explains and finds the appreciation by fans of their original songs to be one of the most rewarding experiences. Musicians and bands often face a challenge in hectic schedules, a fight the Billy Bauer Band is no stranger to. Their struggles have not been without success however. The Band won the Philadelphia region of the Original Sessions Nation Band Search in 2006, followed by their single “55” reaching number 2 on Garageband.com’s acoustic charts and also four nominations for the 2007 Lehigh Valley Music Awards, including Best Album for Another Day is Coming, Best Song for “55,” Best Male Vocals, and Best String Player. In the past spring and summer, the band opened for Uncle Kracker in Allentown, Pa, and for Pete Francis. The Billy Bauer Band, big advocators for cancer research, was also recognized by PA State Senator Lisa Boscola for their contributions to Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
The Billy Bauer Band has performed in venues and at festivals all over Pennsylvania. They helped raise the $7.8 million dollars this past year at Penn State’s THON to fund the fight against pediatric cancer. They will be performing at Musikfest in August in Bethlehem where they hope to promote their new album and single.
Their sound is crisp and refreshing, holding stories we can’t help but think about and relate to. The sound created by their unique blend of instruments has sucked me into their words and songs, I now know every word. The most important part of their music to them and the reason why I like them so much is… the originality!

A strong work ethic, good sense of humor and willingness to make sacrifices helped the Billy Bauer Band get as far as it already has. Always modest, Bauer and his bandmates speak of their crazy tour schedule, regular gigs, and regional showcases as if they are no huge deal.
But even with that type of modesty, the folk/rockish/Americana band certainly appreciates every opportunity that comes its way. Sometimes they enjoy getting out to a larger venue that will help get the word out about the band, but other times, they simply prefer to stay closer to home playing in venues and for people who have provided the band with consistent support.
GENRE: folk/acoustic/alternative
BAND MEMBERS: Billy Bauer (guitar, vocals), Chris Lorenzetti (electric violin), Steve Zalalas (bass)
INFLUENCES: Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Howie Day, John Denver, Goo Goo Dolls, Jack Johnson
If you could play any venue, what would it be?
Billy: Red Rocks in Colorado without a doubt. It's carved into a mountain. There probably shouldn't even be an amphitheatre there, it should probably be a national park. But it's all natural acoustic, so it's gotta sound amazing.
Steve: There's a theater in Pompeii, Italy, where Pink Floyd did one of their videos...
Chris: I thought you were going to say Mount Olympus in Greece.
Billy: Chris doesn't care. As long as there's somebody to play for.
If your music were to be used in any movie, what movie would it fit best?
Billy: O, Brother Where Art Thou? type of movies. I like the southern feel and the southern style of life where it's kinda country, but it's not.
Chris: Something thought-provoking, too. Some of the songs have deeper meanings to be incorporated into [movies] like that.
If you could play back up for any band, or if you had to be a cover band for any band, which would you choose?
Billy: Dave Matthews Band. No doubt. I can play most of their songs already. I taught myself guitar by listening to their [material]. He's a huge influence, and you can hear it in our music.
Chris: Classic rock stuff like Kansas. Something more rock-infused. Or progressive rock.

The Billy Bauer Band was formed by singer/songwriter Billy Bauer and violinist/keyboard player Chris Lorenzetti. On their newest disc, the two enlist the help of Steve Zalalas's bass skills and Zack Martin's steady drumming. Together, the four have created a relaxed, care-free sound that's rich with creative instrumentation and intricate rhythm.
Bauer's voice is the center-piece on Another Day Is Coming. The Penn State history student has got a Paul-Simon-meets-John-Mayer-meets-college style of singing which is easy on the ears and pleasant to listen to. The second most noticeable thing is Lorenzetti's violin playing and careful keyboard touches, which work well.

Get Into The Act: Billy Bauer Band
An acoustic guitar/violin duo isn't something you see every day in the clubs of the Lehigh Valley. But it's an interestingly potent combo, as a listen to the Billy Bauer Band will reveal.
Bauer is a fine singer-songwriter with his acoustic guitar alone, his sound evocative of Dave Matthews, whose CD with Tim Reynolds, ''Live at Luther College,'' inspired him to pick up the guitar for the first time just six years ago. Chris Lorenzetti adds intensity on violin, sometimes taking lead with jammin' solos.
"He brings that edge that I couldn't bring myself," says Bauer.
Bauer and Lorenzetti are friends from Bethlehem Catholic High School. Lorenzetti, a violin and piano teacher and classical musician, had never dabbled in rock before Bauer asked him to join him. But the music fit and the two recorded a CD, The Best of Both Worlds.' Its 10 tracks include Happy Valley, a drinking song kind of ode to Penn State, where Bauer is a senior, and "Run or Hide"' and "55," a one-two punch of Matthews-ish material with hopeful messages about putting things in perspective.
''Run or Hide'' and ''55'' return on ''Another Day is Coming,'' a CD with a full band that also includes drummer Zach Martin and bassist Steve Zalalas and is scheduled for release at the end of November.
The band is getting some attention” it's a finalist in the Original Sessions Band Search and will play the CMJ Music Marathon showcase in New York Nov. 4.

The crowd was blown away not only by their Dave [Matthews] covers, but by their original songs too. Billys voice, and the electric violin were fantastic. I can honestly say I've never heard anything like it. Who goes around with an electric violinist anyway? These guys are unique, and their music has personality. We can't wait to have them back next year! -- Theresa Lloyd, Penn State University THON Coordinator, February 2006

It reminds me a bit of artists like David Grey, Shawn Colvin, Dave Matthews, and maybe even John Mayer. That's a cool direction to be heading in. The acoustic and fiddle instrumentation works well. This is well recorded in that everything is clean and clear sounding. --Taxi, (the worlds leading independent A&R Company), February 2006
You've put together an impressive lineup of great players who each excel on their instruments- very solid chemistry. The songs are well-written, with catchy melodies and tasty chord progressions. Overall, some very high musicianship and well-crafted tunes here. --Taxi, (the worlds leading independent A&R Company), January 2007
I am currently listening to your music and really enjoying it. Zack is an amazing drummer. You are all good. Vocals and instrumentation really impressed me. --Shut Eye Records, February 2007
