Biography

Michael Deej’s passion for music began not with a guitar or microphone, but with a pair of headphones. Exposed to the experimental and innovative sounds of rock acts such as Led Zeppelin, Cream, Yes, Peter Gabriel, and Pearl Jam, he cultivated a unique and introspective approach to writing music. Initially drawn to a harder sound, Michael has since incorporated a wide range of modern influences, resulting in infectious, innovative and evocative songs.


Michael’s fan base has continued to progress with his style and ability, growing loyal and diverse over time. He has performed at some of the most desirable venues in the tri-state area, and has opened for acts such as King’s X, Corey Glover, Stinger, and Third Eye Blind. With each event he displays passion, grace, and charisma, hitting on a wide-range of emotions, always leaving the audience craving more.


Recently Michael has recorded a 12 song Album in Nashville, TN with producer Will Smith. An array of seasoned professionals worked with Michael to create a CD which showcases Michael’s songwriting abilites. Shortly thereafter, Michael performed a showcase in August in Nashville for representatives from Warner Brothers, Curb Records, and others. While interest in Michael’s talent is high, his inventive sound continues to evolve, and his dedication to his craft has propelled his pursuit to identify a label which will be the “perfect fit.”

  I went for a walk with my husband and 3yr old daughter, on a Saturday evening around 5pm. We circle...I went for a walk with my husband and 3yr old daughter, on a Saturday evening around 5pm. We circled the downtown Montclair area and had no intention of seeing live music or staying out late. Well, once we reached the Church Street section we could not believe the scene we stumbled upon. There was families and kids and young adults all eating and drinking together outside the Church Street Cafe. There must have been 300 people flooding the street. Once we realized what was attracting all these people we too were hooked... we couldnt get that close but through all the crowd we could see this handsome young man with his guitar, sitting right on the corner of Bloomfield Ave. and Church Street, with his Mic and guitar plugged in, and a crowd of 20 children in front of him....he won this crowd over. With his vocal abilities and song choice he was sure to be a local hit... we had an oppurtunity to meet with him after his first set, and he introduced himself as Deej, and thanked us for coming he gave us a free cd and played with our daughter a little while...and from that night on my husband and I never felt better about our move to Montclair. We since have seen Deej everywhere... We love him and his music... Thank You Michael and from our family to yours, we wish you the best.

Our catalog consists of at least 20-30 Originals an unlimited amount of covers and a few improv jams as well.. We tend to cover the different types of music that are not being covered out there.. for example.. Michael Jackson, REM, Pearl Jam, Yes, The Who, etc. Although we have an extensive catalog of covers we find that crowds demand something different and that is what we dekiver. Our original music is passionate and full of catchy riffs and addictive melodies... we strive to create that mind blowing experience for all of our fans and audiences every time we take the stage... Whatever type of venue we play we can work our sets out to be energetic and crowd pleasing. We also do many acoustic gigs where our singer is showcased with many covers and his truly vibrant and creative originals... Any requests will surely be considered but most can absolutely be accomodated...
