Artist Information

Biography

From the sawdust covered floors of a backwoods beer joint, to a psychedelic dope den, The Nugget Brothers’ sound is a unique melting pot of styles. From an early age, founding members Brian Peterson (Guitar/Vocals) and actual brother Mike (Guitar), have had the floodgates open to all styles of music, creating this eclectic blend that today is the philosophy of the Nuggets’ music. Having played in multiple bands (Side Kixx, King Penguin) in the New York City area, they gained experience through playing hundreds of shows. One of which landed them smack in the middle of Times Square as part of the Clean Up New York campaign, sponsored by Z100 FM.

They’ve worked with Joey Gmerek (Hit & Run Publishing), and spent many years under the management of Joseph Reed (TRX Entertainment), who's credits include great jazz producer, Helen Keane, Bill Evans, and Joao Gilberto.

Now having teamed up with bassist, Scott Kastner (Doogs, who’s song “Santa’s In Jamaica” received quite a bit of airplay on New York’s 102.7 WNEW), pedal steel player Kevin Murphy (88 Butterfly, Bicycle Dogs, O'Connells Repeal) and Dr. Rhythm (drum machine. first gig.) The Nugget Brothers are giving the face of Alt./Country a new look. (tragic as it may be!)

In 2005 The Nuggets received a Billboard Magazine World Song Competition Honorable Mention Award for their song "Styletown", and again in 2006 with "Blue".

Shut Eye Records has featured the band on the Buzzlighter compilation C.D., "Feed Your Muse" in 2005, and again in 2006 on "The United State of Americana 4" with the song "Blue" alongside BR5-49 and Bobby Bare.

The band has also earned themselves showcase slots at Detroit's prestigious MC2 Festival (Motor City Music Conference) in April 2005, A-list status at two Millennium Music Conferences (MMC9 and 10), and two consecutive selections to the North by Northeast (NXNE) festival in Toronto.

The Nugget Brothers can currently be found playing regular shows around some of NYC's top venues like The Knitting Factory, Pianos, Delancey Lounge, and Arlene's Grocery to name a few, and are part of the touring group Cirque du Singe Brise`(Circus of the Shattered Monkey).
