Natalie is a new, emerging singer/songwriter who is quickly forging a name for herself on the indie music scene. Her music has been classified as jazz/folk, and combines poetry and social commentary. With vocal stylings reminiscent of Sarah Vaughn and Ella Fitgerald, and the musical sensibilities of Shawn Colvin and Eric Clapton, hers is truly a unique sound. She draws an audience in through the art of intimate singing, making you feel like an old friend in an experience you will be remembering long after you've left the show.
Natalie grew up in a military family, and has lived in such exotic locations as The Philippines, London, and Kansas. She began singing from the moment she could talk, and found that music helped her make friends in all of the many new places she moved to. She got her start singing jazz and old standards, and began vocal training at a very early age.
After she graduated from UCLA, she moved to New York City where she continued to sing jazz in such clubs as The Traid, Sam's, and Don't Tell Mama.
It wasn't until after she moved back to Los Angeles that she discovered her own songwriting abilities and found her inner folk-rocker. Now singing her own original material, she has taken the indie music scene by storm. She has performed in such venues as The Cat Club on the Sunset Strip (owned by Slim Jim Phantom of The Stray Cats), Ten20 Club, Vermont, The Gardenia, Hallenbecks, and recently showcased at the International Folk Alliance in Memphis. Her song "Moon, So High" won Honorable Mention in the 14th Annual Billboard song contest, and she moved the the next round of judging in the International Song Competition '07.
With all of this attention, this is definitely one artist to keep your eye on.
