Biography

Smudgie is a singer-songwriter from Toronto, Canada who decided to turn to music after getting a Ph.D. in economics with her music now being played across the US in arenas.

After listening to just one song, ("Lost My Destination"), Jim Vallance, one of the top songwriters of our time, (Bryan Adams, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith and Ozzy Osbourne), told Smudgie she’s got the makings of a hit songwriter.

Smudgie is the winner of several songwriting awards including Best Alternative Song at the Exposure Music Awards in the UK, and Best Song (“Walk Away”) on the indie music website mp3unsigned.com. She was also voted Best Band on mp3unsigned.com out of thousands of entries from all over the world.

Her songs have also been on regular Internet radio rotation since she’s started writing and have been placed in an LA-based web drama series. They’ve been played in coffee houses across the U.S. and her “Feel Like This” video landed her a nomination for Best International Video at the UK’s Exposure Music Awards.

Even though she's only been writing for a short time, Smudgie already has a U.S. placement deal under her belt for all the songs on her first album entitled "Smudgie". She continues to work on her second studio album with Attitude Productions.





Instrumentation

Pete Swann (guitar player, keyboard player, arranger, composer, producer). Pete has won numerous guitar playing contests and song writing contests.

Mike Thorne (drums). Mike also has won many contests including the modern drummer magazine contest.

Smudge (vocals, guitar). Smudge is Pete's sister, the lead singer, lyricist, composer, who plays guitar.
