Biography

D Trevlon was born and raised in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, a mining town found in the north of Canada, . As a child, Trevlon Spent a lot of time in childhood at the family cottage( Butler Lake) where, “I did a lot of outdoor seeking.” Trevlon also played hockey in the winters, “like any other small town kid would” . It was during these early years in Kirkland, Ontario where he was witness to beauty, nature and kind acts of faith that continue to inform his songwriting and his general philosophy of life.

Trevlon writes songs about the people and adventures he comes across. He started writing songs in earnest at 19 years of age but found his sound not long ago at 27 years of age. Following his stint in Toronto and London Ontario, Trevlon worked on cruise ships, because he wanted to explore more of the world. He’s been traveling and writing ever since and we are all the better for it.

Some would call Trevlon a hopeless romantic; others might say he’s a loner "I spend alot of time dreaming up songs" Its best, though, to label him as a talent, a drifter, a whistler, an easy going guitar-picker, and a reminder of the simple and important things in life; unabashed love, wide open spaces, a good stiff drink (or three), and the courage to live on the highway. .”

In 2007, Trevlon released his second CD “A Dance Under the Stars” EP. The CD has been requested on radio stations in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Australia. His first release, “To the Dusty Moon and You,” has garnered much critical acclaim and earned Trevlon radio play in Canada (CHRW, CBC Canada, the United States (Desert Highway Radio, Break Through Radio, etc.), and the United Kingdom . He has also had the chance to open for such acts as Ron Sexsmith, Nelly Furtado, the Sadies, John Mann, the Rheostatics, Tegan and Sara, and many other great Canadian artists. His style reminds listeners of former times in life and in music even as he stands at the forefront of a new generation of folk artists poised to take over the roots music world.

" When it comes to writing music I like to keep it simple. it's a busy world out there, so I figure the simpler, the better."

Look for the release of "The D Trevlon Album" in January 2009. In anticipation of this release Trevlon will have a release party in Vancouver in December 2008. In 2009 look for Trevlon in Toronto, at the International Folk Alliance, SXSW, and on the tour circuit.

  D. Trevlon sounds like the kind of guy whose laidback temperament allows him
  to make music wherever he wants, whenever he wants. But that doesn’t mean
  his latest record, A Dance Under The Stars, feels rushed or otherwise
  sub-par. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. The roots record was recorded in
  one day, and while many of Trevlon’s seven tracks find themselves coated in
  serious self-reflection, there’s definitely a hint of playfulness evident
  within his subtle, mysterious melodies. “The Dream” kicks things off,
  highlighting Trevlon’s thick, velvety vocals over a backdrop of dusky
  acoustics, while “Keep On Dancing” captures his knack for the spontaneous
  and candid. The disc was written with Trevlon’s grandparents in mind and
  it’s evident that most of the album’s honesty stems from his appreciation
  towards them. Just as the country roots lover will find enjoyment in A Dance
  Under The Stars, those who like to give in to the impromptu side of music
  will consider this album a keeper. (Desert Highway)

  From the opening distant whistle on “Here I Am/There You Are,” Trevlon seems to make a point that he is not a typical singer-songwriter. Instead, the material by this London, ON native, who recorded this debut album with fellow Londoner Andy Magoffin, evokes everything from Marty Robbins-style cowboy ballads to the spacey folk of Tim Buckley. Much of this is due to the fact that Magoffin doesn’t scrimp on the reverb, but it is appropriate in heightening the mysterious qualities inherent to songs like “Golden Lorraine,” and “Valley Of Abralawn.” In fact, it is sometimes hard to believe that this album was made in 2005 and not 1967. However, that’s not to say that Trevlon is any sort of faux-hippy. Both his songs and rich vocals are clear and direct, making To: The Dusty Moon and You, all in all, one of the most unusual — and compelling — Canadian roots debut albums since the Sadies’ Precious Moments.
