Biography
Jesse Thomas is a Florida-based singer/songwriter who captivates audiences with his heart touching songs. Jesse crafts emotional lyrics built around the primal topics of life, love, and everything in between. The twenty-year-old up and coming performer has a clear knack for writing piercing songs that are both memorable and meaningful. Jesse's music has been described as a style blend of Howie Day and Jason Mraz with a voice like Three Doors Down. His music also displays the depth of classic singer/songwriters such as Cat Stevens and Jackson Browne.
Although Jesse Thomas is only twenty, his music often displays a maturity often only gained though a rough-and-tumble life. Part of that derives from the fact that Jesse grew up with modest means in North Fort Myers, Florida, far removed from the image of beaches and Spring Breakers that people tend to associate with the area. Sometimes referred to as "Scumcoast" instead of Suncoast, the downtrodden crime-ridden locale has become a Muse of sorts. The upbringing served as a backbone to instill a sense of realism that is typically not found in a performer his age.
One aspect that has always been constant in Jesse's life is his love for both music and songwriting. Shortly after learning how to write, Jesse began to write short little rhymes. And before that, Jesse's grandmother had begun showing the artistic youngster nursery rhymes on the piano. After years of continuing for himself what his grandmother started for him on the piano, and eventually teaching himself how to play the drums. Just two years ago Jesse began playing the guitar. He immediately began a steady outpouring of emotional lyrics with backdrop of guitar. As a generally guarded individual, Jesse's music has become his most honest and pure form of expression.
During a coffeehouse performance in May of 2006, only weeks after Jesse started playing in front of an audience, he caught the attention of Creative 22 Records. The label saw the immense potential of the new performer, and shortly after inked a deal to work with the young singer/songwriter. Jesse has since begun narrowing down material for an eagerly-awaited official EP release in May, 2007.
