Biography
Drea is Folk You. Her presence as a live performer and songwriter pushes the envelope of traditional folk music creating a Folk You experience, original, and engaging. Her sound melds folk, rock, country and pop. She has grown as an artist out of Peterborough Ontario's strong musical traditions to become an international emerging artist. Drea's performances include the Skagen Music Festival in Denmark, the Paulusfeesten and Deerlycke festivals in Belgium, the Back Meadows Music and Peterborough Folk festival. Her music has taken her across Canada twice with tours from the Yukon to Newfoundland, and through the Netherlands, France and Denmark in the fall of 2007. She toured Northern Canada in the winter of 2008 and headlines the Folkwoods Festival in Holland and Paulusfeesten festival in Belgium in August 2008. You will wake up with Drea's songs in your head, she has just released her 6th independent album "LIVELY" July 2008. The HolyLowDownBand EP is available December 2008. Instrumentation
Drea Nasager is Folk You. She has developed her sound on the road and at home performing with a wide array of musicians. You can see Drea perform with The Holylowdown Band, her voice and powerful songs, without the sappiness, strong rhythm guitar, bass, drums, lap steel and backing vocals. Drea blends catchy melodies with powerful lyrics, sweet falsettos, rasp, grit and powerful vocals. Sounds like Odetta, Emmy Lou Harris and Natalie Merchant meet rock, honky tonk and pop.

Strong...This voice and these songs are haunting, and they will draw you in and lull you to dreams of all kinds. Drea's new seven-song album is potent and full. With nothing except her voice, guitar and heart to rely on, she shares a story of who and how she is. The Pretty Ones paints a compelling self-portrait that feels as honest as it gets. Drea's music is rough country whiskey, poured through a fearless voice, held by a strong hand and tied up with a ribbon. It is driven by her power to rock and her drive to rock you. It is sweatered in what sounds like a childhood full of folk and country music, and kitchen parties. To me, this album displays a sound that has matured through tough friends, harsh realities, and an unwavering committment to the power of love. This summer Drea received the Emerging Artist Award at the 2006 Peterborough Folk Festival, and since then it's been evident that this town just can't get enough of her. She's a sweet gem who's gonna go far...So make sure to check her out when you get the chance.
