2011 was a STELLAR Year for East Coast Country music recording artist Tonya Kennedy. With 2, 2011 EAST COAST MUSIC AWARD nominations for Country Recording of the year & Rising Star Recording of the Year, a Top 10 nod from the members of the CCMA for Canadian Country Female Artist Of The Year, as well as her CMT debut with CMT's documentary - The Birthplace Of The Beat -- Tonya is more than well on her way to becoming a household name for Country music fans across Canada! Tonya's has maintained a strong presence at Canadian Country radio over the past 2 years with her radio hits: "When You're Gone", "If Your Phone Doesn't Ring" & her current hit "Fallin' For You" an advance single from her upcoming sophomore album!

The History…….Tonya began her pursuit of music in 1999 where she became a powerful force in the world of Pop Rock touring Ontario and various provinces in Canada until 2004. During that time, Tonya realized her passion was in the world of Country music and in 2005 entered a competition through Durham based KX96 Country Music Radio and was crowned the KX96 Super Star Search winner. Her grand prize was an opportunity to record and release a country song to Canadian Radio and that is where it all began…..

The Present…… Today Tonya is a dedicated & driven country music singer songwriter. 2010 & 2011 are years that saw this Newfoundland native make a serious impact on Country radio and landed her in the top 10 females of Canadian Country music. Tonya is signed to Blue Sapphire/UNIVERSAL Music and her debut album “Lucky I Lost You” received rave reviews across the country. Tonya’s fans have witnessed her transform from a regional artist to a National artist on the rise and someone to watch for – and people are certainly watching…..

The Future….. With 2 "2011 East Coast Music Award" nominations for Country Recording of the Year & Rising Star Recording of the Year under her belt, Tonya Kennedy is preparing to release her sophomore album in the Spring of 2012. A cross country tour is being put together to begin in late spring & finish up in Sept in SK just in time for the 2012 CCMA's. 3. Video for When You’re Gone receiving over 30,000 hits on youtube in less than 1 year.

4. Video for Tragedy received over 1400 hits in its first week on Youtube and was ‘reposted’ on Facebook by over 300 people.

5. Signed distribution deal with Blue Sapphire/UNIVERSAL Music in 2010 for ECMA Nominated album Lucky I Lost You.

6. Toured throughout Canada in 2010 in support of debut album Lucky I Lost You.

7. Received funding grants from FACTOR (Independent Recording Project & Marketing & Promotion Grant) and the City Of Barrie (Video Grant for Tragedy).

8. Organized & performed in 4th annual breast cancer benefit concert – donated to date over $16,000 to The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

9. Original composition “Dear God” used at the opening ceremonies of the CIBC Walk For A Cure.

10.Recorded Leonard Cohen’s epic hit Hallelujah as part of a fundraising effort with Pink Warriors based out of Saskatoon SK.
