Biography
The only woman to make it to the Top 10 in the Blues Foundation's Best Self-Produced CD Contest in 2007, Laurie "Waddy" Mitchell is finally living her dream of bringing the old sounds of Beale St. and Bourbon St. back to the public. Her debut CD, OL'SOUL, has been embraced by radio stations across the country and both oceans. Blues Revue Mag. and Big City Blues Mag. have both written rave reviews on this CD. Waddy recently won Honorable Mention in the International Songwriting Contest in the blues category. Her love of Besse Smith brought her to the studio after years of performing for friends. Her voice doesn't match the face, and many can't believe she is the one on the CD but hearing is believing. Wm. Lee Ellis said she is the oldest soul he knows, hence the title. Waddy believes it is time for the old sound to come back, and she is doing her best to put it back in front of the public again.
