Progressive-art-punk with dance tendencies. Post-no wave-rock schizophrenia. A weird soundtrack. A chemically-induced dream. A religious experience. An eight-piece tropical nightmare with detours into world rhythms, experimental grooves, punk rock, pop, and progressive sounds.

Artist Information

Biography

Lucky Pineapple is comprised of an unlikely combination of classically trained musicians, veterans of the Louisville punk scene, theatre performers, improvisational noise artists and all around unique individuals. Since inception in 2004, they have tried to play out of the ordinary shows including art gallery parking lots, Zombie Proms, film festivals, house parties, student lounges, as a musical interlude during a teen talent show, cross-dressing events, minor league baseball fields, high-rise rooftops, warehouse music festivals, and world renowned theaters. The bands performances have included light shows, video projection collaborations, matching tuxedos, inflatable palm trees, magicians, costumed superheroes, a go-go dancer, their own dance troupe, huge eye balls, a bubble truck, and a semi-regular group of back-up singers. They have set themselves apart simply by thriving to be unique, interesting, and maintaining the spirit of exploration in the music as art. There is no border around the sound.

In late 2005, William Benton of Lucky Pineapple helped find the location and curate the Burn to Shine 4 DVD, a Louisville installment to the series. This volume will also feature other Louisville artists like Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Shipping News, Lords, Magik Markers, Liberation Prophecy and more. The film finally saw its world premier this past year and is set for release on DVD.

Lucky Pineapple's songs have been regularly featured on both seasons of MTV's mega-hit show "Jersey Shore"

The band's 2nd album, "The Bubble Has Burst in Sky City" is currently available on sonaBLAST! Records (Ben Sollee, The Seedy Seeds, Mark Geary, The Pass)
