Building on the success of last year’s event, Boston Music Spotlight is delighted to announce its second annual Battle of the Bands, which will be held on Friday, September 18 at Oliver's Nightclub at the Cask‘n Flagon. All submissions will be reviewed by the Boston Music Spotlight staff. 10 bands will be chosen for online voting which will narrow the field to the 5 finalists that will perform at Olivers on September 18.



Beyond the glory of victory, the bands are also in the running to receive the grand prize worth over $5,000 that includes:



Powderfinger


  • Powderfinger Promotions will provide a national radio promotion package worth $1,400 to the Battle winner. The company will promote the winner's newest album via one-on-one contacts and weekly group emails to radio stations across the country for six weeks.


  • JamSpot will provide $1,000 worth of studio time, good for use towards recording, mixing, rehearsal time, and other services. JamSpot is a professionally designed digital rehearsal studio that has two convenient locations in Somerville and Wakefield, MA. JamSpot will also provide one hour rehearsal time to each band that applies to the 2009 Boston Music Spotlight Battle of the Bands through Sonicbids.


  • CD\Works has agreed to provide 250 CDs with a slim jewel case and a two-page insert. CD\Works is a leading provider of CD and DVD production services with a Boston area office in Beverly, MA.


  • Arguedas Photography will provide a professional press and live photo shoot for the wining band. Arguedas Photography specializes in wedding, portrait and music photography in a documentary style. Johnny Arguedas produces storytelling images that are modern and natural, images that are fresh, vibrant and stand the test of time.


  • Big Noise has agreed to provide an exclusive, personal consultation with award-winning music producers Al Gomes and A. Michelle of Big Noise. The consultation may include a review of your career path, demo CD, official website, photos, and image for all five finalists. Al, along with partner A. Michelle, is the founder of Big Noise, an international music production and artist development firm. Big Noise has been responsible for the release of 250+ recordings of diverse musical genres. They have managed each and every project from concept to completion including helping artists with budget, choice of the artist's material, hands-on A&R direction in the studio, art direction of recording package, manufacturing of finished CD, and marketing and distribution of the finished release.


  • Revolve, LLC has agreed to provide legal services for the winner of the Battle of the Bands in the form of a band start-up package, customized for the band after an in-depth conversation of their needs, and which may include entity formation and consultation, a band agreement, a professional services audit to determine what further steps should be taken to ensure legal and business security for the band, and/or other equitable legal work.


Please note: Bands will also be required to sell 30 tickets each to the event . All bands must play original music, be based in the New England area, and be 21+. Bands that performed at the 2008 Battle will not be eligible until 2010. Participation in the Boston Music Spotlight Battle of the Bands is a great way to promote your band to a bigger audience.
