This Gig Listing has been re-opened for submissions. All previous submitters are still in contention to be selected, and do not need to submit again.


Now in its 19th year, The DSA 2008 Song Contest is one of the longest running international song contests for amateur songwriters. Offering over $5,000 in cash and prizes this year, the DSA has added TWO new categories – “Bare Bones” (vocals + 1 or 2 instruments) and “Music Video,” for TEN categories in all. This year’s prizes include:


    Grand Prize:

    • New Gibson Guitar (Make and Model TBA, List Value over $900)

    • A Premier Song Demo from Beaird Music Group, (Value $705)

    • 1 Year Sonicbids Membership

    1st Runner Up Grand Prize:


    • 1 Day of FREE Recording and a Night in Merlin's Cabin at River Sound Recording Studio on the Llano River in the Texas Hill Country

    • 1 Year Sonicbids Membership

    2nd Runner Up Grand Prize


    • A 40 Minute Song Consultation by Songwriter/Producer/Songwriting Instructor, Kim Copeland ($50 value)

    • 1 Year Sonicbids Membership

    1st Place in Each Category:


    • Winners in each of the ten categories will receive $100 in cash

    • Dallas Songwriter Association 1 year membership ($50 value)

    2nd Place in Each Category:


    • Winners in each category will receive $50 in cash

    • Songwriter Association 1 year membership ($50 value)

The DSA Annual Song Contest is open to any amateur songwriter. (This contest defines “amateur” as a songwriter who has not earned more than $5,000 from songwriting-related royalties, works for hire, or advances since January 1, 2004.)
