"Korean-American singer/songwriter, Garam Heo releases debut solo studio album, 'Quiet Time'"

Contact: Garam Heo, 678-230-0454; www.garamheo.com

SUWANNE, Ga., April 4, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Upcoming Christian Korean-American singer-songwriter, Garam Heo, has released his full-length debut album, "Quiet Time," now available on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody and other online retailers as well as directly from his website. Garam was the 2011 winner of the Korean Music Festival which was held in Suwanee, GA.

Garam's album is the result of a chance encounter between he and Texas-based urban music songwriter/producer Chris Reeves in 2010. They met while participating in a missionary group that traveled throughout the Atlanta area feeding the less fortunate, and sharing the Gospel of Christ. The two quickly found that their musical styles, while vastly different from one another, complimented each other in a unique way that would combine Garam's primarily unplugged guitar acoustics with Chris's contemporary R&B/Pop beats, generating a new and original sound.

With an extensive background in international ministry, Garam has served and performed for audiences and ministries all over the world in countries such as The Philippines, India, Malaysia, China and South Korea. While Chris and Garam contributed to the bulk of the songwriting and performance duties for the album, other contributors included Chris's twin brother and fellow producers Craig Reeves, Jiwon Lee, Jennifer Jang, Eun Ji Kim, guitarist Rhett Shull and upcoming hip-hop artist Koowl Fury.

The title track and first official single, "Quiet Time," is a smooth, mid-tempo R&B ballad written by Chris, who features on piano while Garam features on guitar. The song has been praised by fans and music critics alike for its lyrical content and unique blend of acoustic CCM with urban Gospel. The album, as a whole, encompasses Garam's ideology that through Christ's imputed righteousness, believers can respond to the needs of others, all while demonstrating God's nature through kindness and generosity. "Pray For You" is a tribute song to the people of Haiti, Japan, and other countries who fell victim to major natural disasters, and "Help Me" is a personal prayer to God asking for a loving heart and an understanding mind. The album also features three tracks written in Garam's native Korean language. One of which is the acoustic ballad "Just Another Door," which was written by Garam and features the acclaimed Ryoo Trio.

Bio

Garam grew up in a Christian home, with a set of morals that reflect a strong belief in God, the importance of love and fellowship among people, open-mindedness and hard work. Being the son of Korean missionaries, Garam has a heart to spread God’s Word and the gospel among the people of the world. From a very young age, Garam has had a strong love for music, however, he merely saw singing as a hobby and rather, pursued a career in soccer for the majority of his youth. Although as an adult, he still loves to play soccer in his free time, music began to take on a bigger interest in his life, especially when he began to lead praise and worship at different church events. Garam has served as a praise leader in the Phillipines in 2007, as well as China and Malaysia in 2008. Garam joined the United States Air Force and served his country for four years as a surgical technician. He believes his time in the Air Force further strengthened his values of hard work, determination, respect for the individual and chivalry. After leaving the military, Garam devoted much more of his time as a mentor and praise leader for Nations Community Church, a non-denominational church founded and led by well respected Korean pastor, David Kim.

Nations Community Church and SMD

Garam is also a major ambassador for the international ministry started by the pastor named “Synagogue Missonary Disciples” or SMD for short. This ministry is based in South Korea, the Phillipines and the United States and bears an ideology in the spreading of the uncompromised Gospel through love and understanding. During the summer of 2010, Garam stepped out on faith and embarked on a six month mission trip to India and South Korea. He formed strong and lasting relationships with several people who were not only leaders and fellow evangelists, but also people who were brought to Christ by the power of the Gospel. While serving in South Korea, Garam began work with a well-known Korean jazz guitarist Gangho Ahn on a studio album featuring his original music. Although he had an interest in writing music prior to his time in the studio, he gained a new interest in the method in which records are made, and the overall production process. Upon returning home after a six month mission trip, Garam was signed to VIP Sound Circle Entertainment, and began to work on his first studio album with producer Christopher Reeves.

Signing With VIP Sound Circle Entertainment and Awards

Since signing with VIP Sound Circle Entertainment, Garam has quickly made quite a reputation for himself. He has been asked to perform at several venues and locations, and was invited to perform at the 22nd CBS Christian Music Festival in Chicago, which was aired on MC-TV in the United States and CBS in South Korea. Later that year, Garam Heo, along with his producers Christopher and Craig Reeves formed a band named “Elation”, and won 1st place in the Korean Music Festival held in Suwanee, GA with a cover of the song “Hand In Hand” by Unbekannt. Just a week later, Garam competed in the Living Water CCM Festival and won top prize with his first single “Just Another Door”, featuring the SMD Piano Trio. In his own words, Garam says “I want to reach Christian people with my music, but I don’t want to limit myself to that audience, I want to reach those who may not know Christ, or may be unsure. I don’t want to distance myself too much from them.
