Clinton Billups from Global Gaming Expo (G2E) sheds some light on G2E and what he looks for when selecting acts for the conference.
The Global Gaming Expo (G2E is the world’s largest conference and tradeshow for the casino entertainment industry. The event offers casino entertainment executives three days of artist showcases, panel discussions and tradeshow exhibits. The Entertainment Arena at G2E features musical attractions, comedians and variety artists suitable for casino lounges, nightclubs and showrooms.
Billups generally gets more than 100 submissions to the annual event. Whether it's a band, comedian or variety artist, G2E is looking for artists and attractions that are commercially suitable for casinos (namely artists who will attract a casino demographic) and who preferably have experience performing at casinos.
Here’s what he checks out when reviewing EPKs: bios, videos and audio (if it’s a musical act). “A good professional video is a must.”
A sample of the entertainment he’s used in the past include tribute bands like Mr. Dynamite and Blue Suede Crew, as well as comedians Dick Hardwick and Pow-Wow Comedy Jam. These acts appealed to the 35-65-year-old casino demographic and were very well received.
G2E is currently accepting submissions for its fall show, taking place November 17-19, 2009 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
