Bio

Music is my outlet. My life. My escape.

Jamie’s music career is just beginning and for the first time he feels he has found who he is.

Jamie grew up in a large Housing Commission estate, standing by watching every one he knew drop out of school to live on Government benefits and continue the ‘tradition’ of what seems to be the norm.

This ‘tradition’ just wasn’t enough for Jamie, he wanted more:
He is the first person in his family to finish high school,
Go to university,
Follow his aspirations and not give up.

One of his motivations is to express to his younger brothers and sisters as well as young people like them, that there is more in life and if they really work at it they can achieve what their hearts desire.

Jamie is studying a Bachelor of Music, majoring in Creative Production. Jamie is studying to be a degree wielding Musician and Producer.

Jamie only discovered his love for music in 2006, when he was 19 and since then he has learnt through a mixture of self-exploration and professional guidance. Jamie plays a number of instruments, and is willing to give most a go. Instruments he currently plays are the Guitar –Acoustic and Electric, 12 String Guitar, Banjo, Harmonica, Synthesiser and Piano.

Since starting his Music Myspace profile it has accumulated over 4000 fans less then 2 years.

Jamie’s long-term goal is to be a successful self-sufficient musician. Currently he does all his own artwork and promotion. This includes the cover art for his first EP “Just a show”.

Jamie’s musical influences are John Butler and Michael Franti. He holds John Butler responsible for helping him to discover his love for music and playing the guitar. Jamie has been to 8 JBT gigs each with there own stories but the best is when he once convinced his girlfriends parents to drive them 10 hours in one night to Melbourne to catch the launch of his last album. It was a long slow drive in the middle of the night, but they got there with a few hours to spare and were right up the front at the gig. If you pause the live at Federation Square DVD you can see Jamie.

Jamie hopes you enjoy his music. Whether he is the next best thing remains unknown however he knows his passion will not die. He couldn’t imagine it any other way.

Here is what Jamie has to say about his first EP release-

My first EP release is titled “Just a show”, and was produced by David Bennett and I. It is a combination of songs I have written in the last two years.

Some of which have seen me place in the top 100 songwriters in various categories in 2008 and 2009 in the annual Australian Song writing Associations (ASA) competition.

All the songs hold deep meaning, with each song being written at a certain time in my life when I needed to express my feelings, their real songs written about real things.
The name of the EP comes from two tracks. “Wonder Why”, a song written about an ongoing battle with an anxiety disorder, and “War and a Show”, a song about looking at what is actually going on in the world, manly focusing on the War on Terror and how it seems to make great prime time TV, when really it should not be a TV series.

All the tracks on the EP are written about different aspects of my life, contrasting from one another with the up beat love song that is “Always Be” to the slower message driven track that is “Traditions of Today”.

“Just a show” really is my thoughts put to song, and hopefully everyone who listens to the EP can relate to a number of them.
