Free! Concert in the Park to Benefit Food Shelf Saturday August 11 7PM

Celebrate Summer ! with a Free Concert at the Memorial Park Bandshell in Ashland.
The concert is scheduled for 7PM on Saturday August 11th . There is no charge to attend but concert goers are asked to bring a non perishable food item, cleaning supplies , or cash donations. Any donation by check should be made payable to “ The Brick “ Food shelf.

The Concert will feature Twin city recording Artists “The Obriens” vocal group , singing traditional Irish & Inspirational harmonies, & “HolyMoses” a five piece vocal group performing Gospel & Americana with a Bluegrass flavour. Holy Moses Group members John Northrup, and John Garden have been performing for over 3 decades locally and nationally. Both musicians were recently inducted to the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame.

Foodshelf donations maybe brought to the concert , or dropped off prior to the concert or after the concert date at the office of Garden Superior Properties 707 West main St. in Ashland.

The concert is underwritten & sponsored by several area business including : County Market, M&I Bank, Northern State Bank, Holden Insurance, Great Lakes Insurance, Best Western Motel, Chequamegon Hotel, Explores Point restaurant, Garden Superior Properties, Ashland Industries, Deltco, Emmert Coldwell Banker, & Heritage Prudential Real Estate.

John W. Garden and Joy Schreiber will be performing in concert at The Phipps Center for The Arts on at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27.
Garden, a longtime Hudson native and Twin City area musician, will be releasing his first contemporary Christian CD entitled “lifelines,” a compilation of original music including “Jesus Is” and “I Need a Rock.”
Schreiber is currently the choir and music director at Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Houlton. She earned her Masters Degree in performance organ and piano from the University of Notre Dame. This is Schreiber’s second CD. Her new “Reflections of Joy” is a collection of original arrangements of contemporary Christian songs and hymns.
A reception will follow the concert in The Phipps Atrium.

Bio

John W. Garden has performed locally & nationally for over four decades. Primarily playing in R&B , Blues and Contempporary Rock Bands
Garden has been recognized for his songwriting including some contemporary Christian compositions. Garden was an award winner in the American Song Festival in the 1980's.
Performing as a side man during the 70's & 80's Garden has performed in Las Vegas, at the Riviera Hotel Main Stage, and fronted for 70's Rock Icons including Tommy James & The Shondels, Johnny Rivers, Styx and Three Dog Night..
.When Garden formed Holy Moses in 2004 it was his first venture into Christian Gospel & Americana styled music. " I always had a love for the Old Time melodies and harmonies , and actually originally learned to play from an old Gospel guitarist “ said Garden. Garden’s group Holy Moses has been described as a group that plays "Good Music with Spirit."
In April of 2007 Garden was inducted into the Minnesota Music Rock & Country Hall of Fame for his contributions to the Twin Cities Music scene over the years.".

Today Garden makes occasional appearances with several Twin Cities area groups. Some highlights with one of those groups “Danny’s Reason’ included a performance at the Mill City Music Festival an annual Minneapolis Group Music Festival which featured Prince. Garden also performed with “Danny’s Reasons” at a surprise reception for the then Gov. Jesse Ventura and his wife Terri's 25th wedding anniversary..
