"KaelumWay: Pictures of Home"

KaelumWay is another up-and-coming Christian rock band like We Are Leo (in fact they both recorded their latest albums at the same studio). They have done shows with Everyday Sunday, Hyland, The Wrecking, Cool Hand Luke, etc. I love it when I find an artist that is really great, that is for the most part unknown. KaelumWay has mostly done shows in the New Hampshire/Connecticut area, but if they continue to make great music like Pictures of Home they will probably start touring more around the country. The vocalist is very talented and has a very smooth voice. The thing that I have against a lot of bands is that their vocals stink. KaelumWay definitely does not have this problem. The instrumentals are pretty good consistently throughout the album. The lyrics also sound very heartfelt. The three main things I use to determine how good an album is, are the vocals, the instrumentals, and the lyrics. If those three things are good, then usually the album is really good. The vocals and lyrics are solid on Pictures of Home, and the instrumentals are not bad either.

The first song on the album, "Let Go," is a nice rock song with great lyrics. The vocalist did a really great job on this song. He says, "Can't escape the aftermath, the emptiness, or the wounds you're hiding, so take, take a breath and take a chance. Your best defense is losing everything." This song will get you nodding your head and tapping your foot in succession with the music. It is probably the best track on the album. On my list of essential things a song needs it gets like a 2.9 out of 3. The beat is nice, the vocals are great, and the lyrics are catchy. This song was the one that really stuck out to me on the album.

One of the more heartfelt songs on this album is "Breathe In." This song moves me emotionally as much as the song "In Christ Alone" does. The lyrics are so emotional and so heartfelt. This song is my heart's song. It speaks exactly what I think. The song says, "All the failures of a lifetime cannot overcome your love. All my sins have been nailed to the cross where you shed your blood and by your love I will live again, if I just breath in." This song almost makes me cry everytime I hear it because of how powerful its lyrics are. It fills me with such joy because it is so true. All my sins HAVE been nailed to the cross and He HAS saved me from my sins and from eternity without Him. I love, love, love this song.

The song "Eagles' Wings" makes me think a lot of the song "You Are More" by Tenth Avenue North, because of the concept of it. They both have the concept that God can help you through anything and everything. "You Are More" is probably one of my favorite songs of all time, and "Eagles' Wings" is not bad either. It is a cool concept of soaring on eagles' wings and a really cool picture when you think about it. Overall, I really like this song.

KaelumWay is really good band that I would love to see go far. There are a lot of bands out their that just need the publicity and they would be really popular. KaelumWay is definitely one of those bands. They have what it takes to be a great band, and they definitely have the potential. If more people knew about them, they would quickly be one of the more talked about bands.

"KaelumWay - Pictures of Home"

Nashua, New Hampshire-based rock band KaelumWay is a fairly new band, but has already begun making an impact on its surrounding area. Opening for popular acts like Everyday Sunday and Cool Hand Luke, KaelumWay has increased their fanbase just in time for the release of their first album, Pictures of Home. It contains six songs, all of which can easily be classified as rock, though they do include some soft rock in the mix as well. Reading their bio, we discover that the band had the help of Nick Radovanovic from the band Acceptance in the mixing process, as well as Skillet's former guitarist Ben Kasica on the production side of things. Listening to Pictures of Home, you can hear Kasica's touch in some of the songs. While none of KaelumWay's music sounds like Skillet, they have some strings in some of the slower songs that are similar to what you would hear in a slower Skillet song. On KaelumWay's side of the music, it's pretty basic rock music, but one good thing they do have is passion for their music. You can really tell that they put a lot of thought into what they're playing. They also display love and a deep caring for people, which is confirmed when you see that they've supported organizations like Invisible Children and To Write Love On Her Arms. You also really get that feel when you listen to the lyrics on Pictures of Home. Highlights of the album include the opening track "Let Go," as well as "You Are Loved" and "Identity." Rock fans should check out KaelumWay, and look forward to more goodness, as I suspect that they will keep getting better with each new release.

They have played shows from upper VT to lower CT, sharing the stage with many major artists, including: The Wrecking, Everyday Sunday, Cool Hand Luke, Joel and Janna, Hyland, Quiet Science, Bethany Dillon, and more.

The band has an energetic live performance of original songs that have been known to include such antics as swapping instruments mid song or two-person drum solos.
