"The Regular Joe - Read The Joe6 songs, 5 bucks... all talent"

Marcus Words new EP, “6 songs, 5Bucks”, is now available. Catch Marcus Live at a
venue near you!

No one quite sounds like Marcus Words.: a brilliant guitarist with a flare for
rhythmic, acoustic beats. A one man powerhouse of insightful lyrics driven by a
voice that echoes a sense of hope and tainted by life’s up and downs.

He’s the kind of artist who seems inspired by many, but an imitation of none.
You don’t have to dig too deeply to find the diversity that makes up Marcus’s
musical world. Perhaps a little Dave Matthews crossed mixed with Michael
Jackson, tinted with Dylan and Ben Harper and everything in between. Again, a
flavor of many but an imitation of none.

For years, the only way to get the full impact of Mr. Word’s music has been at
one of his jaw-dropping, live appearances... but now he and the equally talented
Colby Walker have released a stripped down, bare-bones acoustic EP,
not-so-cleverly marketed as “6 songs, 5 bucks”.

As the title implies, it’s rock-bottom deal for consumers looking for fresh,
soul-stirring music with a fresh attitude. But the originality lies NOT in the
title, but in the binary code of the CD.

Words and Walker bounce completely effortlessly from each other, trading riffs
and accents like a well-oiled machine. It’s the kind of musical rhythm you find
in artists twice their age and after sharing years of “on the road “experiences.

“Hope” is the common theme of Words music; a hope that is born in the narrative
of stand-out-tracks like, “Worse Case Scenario” and “No radio”. a hope sung
through cautious lyrics and amplified through brilliant harmonies and a soulful
delivery.

To really appreciate the talents of Marcus Words, you need to see him live,
whether with Colby Walker, a full band, or even a really stripped down solo
performance... but if you need a sampler to convince you, “6 tracks, 5 Bucks”
will certainly give you a reason to mark your calendars.

And if a saw-buck is out of your budget... drop a line to
marcuswords@hotmail.com , give him a shout-out on facebook or Myspace... and
digital files could be yours for the asking... just tell him you read about it,
in the “Regular Joe”.

Bio

“I am truly grateful to have been blessed with the gift of music; there are few things that can come between an artist and what they create” – Marcus Words

The first thing that must be considered is that Marcus Words considers his ability to play, interact and speak musically as an extravagant gift. He an individual, raised in a world where gifts are scarce - sought refuge in the comforts of creation.
The Bassoon is where he began learning his craft. Although he played the bassoon as his primary instrument, he acquired many more instruments throughout his adolescence. Such instruments as the trombone, tuba, euphonium, vibraphone, piano, guitar, bass, kit, marching snare, clarinet, trumpet. Throughout Marcus’ life, he’s been exposed to many different genres. Because of this, the inclining for writing and composition began to manifest itself. With a home life that was less than favorable, Marcus found himself immersed in anything that allowed him to hone his talent.
Marcus has had the opportunity to play with many stellar musicians, at many incredible venues such as Starlight Theater (Kansas City, MO) and The Granada (Lawrence, KS). He often makes the argument that “On a global scale – there are very few of us who understand the concept of music” He feels that not only is it a gift, but a duty to continue the pursuit and cultivation of “amazing music”.

“Change” is the objective, “conviction” is the key.
