I CAME...I SAW...I CONQUERED...

Born and raised on the rugged streets of Chicago, Alexander New DEAL Robertson started writing poetry at the age of 11 after the death of his Grandmother Arie and one of his closest childhood friends. "Writing was how I escaped all the bullshit of the world. It gave me a peace of mind to put how I felt on paper; especially when i usually deal with it out of anger ready to fight any and everybody" said Alex. "It became my way out. My way out of that, by any means necessary, attitude I developed". For years to come he continued to write poetry only expressing them to his mother who then encouraged him to write a book based on the realness of his words. She always told him the way he write and express himself with words is alluring. He began to believe.

Years later, after not making all the right choices, Alex decided to join the US Army at the age of 17. "I felt like I was under so much pressure at a early age. My father was in and out of prison (God rest his soul), my brother and I were accustomed to hustling since kids; [you know] we made a way when there wasn't one, and my mother was working her ass off as a Real Estate guru Downtown Chicago to make sure we were good. I saw my life going down a fucked up road to be perfectly honest. Started drinking hard liquor, smoking Black&Milds, and trees [marijuana] on a regular basis at 14". Joining the Army was the best decision Alex could've made getting him away from the negativity he was getting involved with and surrounded by. "I have no regrets leaving the hood and joining the Army. It instilled the discipline in me I needed to refocus my mind. It's not for everybody; but [shit] it was for me". After serving 9 years, going on 4 Combat Deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, completing numerous schools and training, and being recognized for countless awards; Alex decided it was time to call it quits. He put his writing skills to use and pursued his new passion with music.

The birth of his burning desire to seriously make music happened while in the US Army; in a barracks room at the elite Fort Bragg, NC Military Base. Discovered by a long term friend and brother Nicholas "Crief Gutta" Moncrief, who instantly noticed his potential. Crief Gutta accidentally read some lyrics Alex wrote and immediately stressed to him he needed to record and stop sitting on material as such. " If it wasn't for Crief I wouldn't be as in tune with music as I am today" said Alex; explaining the importance of that in particular event. "I remember I started out as Dolo Rob and even my own people kept saying I was garbage [that shit fucked me up man]. I was like damn I'm new to this recording shit; why they getting at me like that." Although Alex contemplated on quitting, Crief wouldn't allow it. He continued to stress that criticism was part of the game and that his writing skills were second to none. Alex thought long and hard about his life, those he lost as well as gained, and those who commended his potential as well as criticized him. Then came the birth of New DEAL...and he's been rocking every since.
