Indie Music Unified Presents “Stomp Out Cancer: Indie Musicians Fight Ewing’s Sarcoma.” With an initial run of 2,500 copies scheduled, the compilation will be released on October 28, 2007. Distribution is being planned through the marketplace, web, and digital mediums. This is the first in a planned series of compilations. This is an exclusive compilation for Sonicbids artists! They are looking for songs of courage, hope, "In Loving Memory Of," survival, and/or any song with a message of hope.
All proceeds will go to the Ewing’s Research Foundation and the V Foundation. Ewing’s Sarcoma is a rare disease in which cancer cells are found in the bone or soft tissue. Ewing’s Sarcoma occurs most frequently in male teenagers. This type of cancer usually presents in childhood or early adulthood, with a peak between 10 and 20 years of age. Ewing’s Sarcoma does not have a special fund allotted by the American Cancer Society, and is also the most under funded for research and support. StreetBlast.com’s Station Manager, Jake Wheat, lost a dear friend Steven Michael Mackin on October 28th, 2006 to Ewing’s Sarcoma. This project is dedicated to Steven, so that he may help families and others find a cure, and cope with Ewing’s Sarcoma.

Selection Process:
All artists must submit through Sonicbids to be considered. After submitting, artists will be asked to send their fans to iMuzic.com to listen and vote for their songs. Voting, downloads, comments, page hits, and time spent on the artist page will determine the final round outcome for inclusion on the final CD. As part of the promotion the artists will be required to donate their share of any download profits for this project to the cancer charity. More information & instructions will be released once the artist submits music for consideration.
Several website have donated ad space and packages for the “Stomp Out Cancer” CD Project, including FanBridge, IndieBands.com, Indie Islands, and Black Mountain.
The first run of “Stomp Out Cancer” will include a four-color logo, with a two-panel insert, a full color CD, and full color CD tray card. Through the generosity of BandLink and CD Intelligence the CD will be integrated with a program that will launch if the CD is placed in a computer. This will allow for the user to get additional information on this CD project, such as the amount of money donated in real time to the Ewing’s Sarcoma charity.
Initial voting will begin on August 1st on iMuzic.com, and will continue to go through October 1st, 2007. There will be a process put in place to create a level playing field so artists who sign up later in the process are not unfairly competing against the early adopters. The top tracks will then be taken to the Mackin family for review, and they will make the final suggestions on the tracks to include in the CD. We want their final opinions to be included in the final song selection, since this is in memory of their son, and also goes to such a great cause!
