Gig Overview

Dfest, the Midwest’s premier independent music festival, connects artists to over 60,000 fans in an intimate, downtown festival setting. Within the four city blocks of Downtown Tulsa’s Blue Dome District, Dfest features well over 100 artists, in ten locally owned venues and on one large outdoor stage. Now in its ninth year, the cornerstone of Dfest has become the event’s diversity, with local, regional, national and international acts who represent over twenty genres of music.

In the festivals eight-year history, Dfest has garnered the attention of music industry media powerhouses such as Billboard, Spin Magazine, FuseTV and the Grammy Awards Foundation, while at the same time forging strategic partnerships with music industry executives and scouts. The powerhouse combination of the festival’s national headliners and up-and coming artists has earned it a reputation for being one of the premiere destinations for new music. Past Dfest performers have included headliners The Flaming Lips, The Roots, The Black Crowes, Cake The All-American Rejects, Disco Biscuits, Metro Station, Leon Russel, Citizen Cope, Ozomatli, Bassnectar, Ghostland Observatory, Paramore, Gogol Bordello, Shiny Toy Guns, moe., The Cool Kids, Zappa Plays Zappa, The Apples In Stereo, Helmet, Clutch, Dengue Fever, Amos Lee, Phantom Planet, The Veils and Joe Pug.

The fine print details:
All showcasing artists must be able to perform a set of 40-minute original material. There are no performance fees or hidden costs associated with performing at Dfest, outside of submission fees. Artists selected to showcase at Dfest 2010 are not monetarily compensated and bands are responsible for their own lodging and transportation arrangements (special artist rates are available at the host hotel, the Downtown Tulsa Crowne Plaza). Each member of every showcasing act, plus two additional crewmembers, will receive a complimentary Dfest Artist Pass, which will allow entrance to all music festival showcases and public events. Artists also gain entrance to the VIP kick-off party, networking events, industry hospitality parties and official event after parties.
