The 2009 Mamapalooza Creativity & Lifestyles Conference and Festival will be held May 28-31, 2009 in New York City and major regional stages. Mamapalooza Inc. is connecting Mothers through Music, Art, Activism and Education for Cultural, Economic & Social awareness. Moms Rock!
Live Loud! Stand up and be heard on one of Mamapalooza's Premier New York City Stages. They are especially seeking talent from Canada, England and Australia as well. Since its debut in 2002, Mamapalooza has garnered media, TV and radio opportunities reaching into the millions, and festival audiences in excess of 20,000. Mamapalooza is the premier stage for performing moms.
Grow your Mom brain! The Creativity and Lifestyles Conference will feature four nights and three days of all-star festival stages, music showcases, film screenings, poetry readings, theatrical presentations and heady academic stuff, in down and dirty settings, with a special focus on women who are mothers.
Performances will take place at prominent NYC venues such as Nola Studios, Bowery Poetry Club, Arlene's Grocery, Bleeker Street Poetry Slam (open to all), The Slipper Room & Riverside Park South. These will be in Association with New York Parks Department, culminating with a free outdoor Mamapalooza family-friendly concert, Summer On The Hudson, on Sunday May 31 from noon until 5PM. That will also include surrounding areas with stages like the Kensico Dam Outdoor Stage in Westchester, NY. Compensation may be offered depending on the venue and performing artist.
In addition to showcase slots, Mamapalooza and The Association for Research & Mothering (ARM) present: MAdness Oppression and Resistance" featuring keynote address by Phyllis Chesler, Author of "Women and Madness" and Paula Caplan, PhD.
The Conference as well as Mamapalooza festival stages are open to submissions from all projects featuring or including:
Mom talent
Kid bands whose members are 16 or younger
Family bands
Dad bands featuring members who are dads
Grandma bands
Please note: At least one member of your project must either be a Mom or a Dad artist. Several performance slots will be held for Sonicbids members. First time performers have gone on to become featured parks performers in subsequent years, propelling them into the spotlight, and reaching thousands of new fans.
