WorldFest is a solar powered festival focusing on issues of the environment, animal rights, and health. Last year, 4,000 people attended the fest and this year will be no exception. The event boasts three stages with 15 - 20 performing artists. The festival is looking for a variety of bands from the Los Angeles area.
The main stage showcases genres such as reggae, latin, country or zydeco, R&B, "party" bands, alternative, funk, and or jazz. The Earth Lounge supoorts a more eclectic program, with a variety of genres accepted, with the exception of metal, hard rock, rap, hip hop, and old school tribute bands.
The festival provides backline gear on the Main Stage and Earth Lounge: drum kit, bass amp, guitar amp (two on Main Stage) and a weighted keyboard. Bands will also receive VIP access backstage, food and drink, festival access for the band members, plus a guest each (or immediate family members) .
Artists must provide a letter on why they want to perform at WorldFest, a recording or video from a live gig with the musicians they plan to bring to the festival (bands without a live recording will not be considered), and a produced recording. WorldFest does not select bands who perform to tracks unless it is an integral part of the live music.
Overview of the stages:
Main Stage - Well known bands and guest speakers are featured on the main stage.
Earth Lounge - A smaller tent stage where a wide variety of bands perform
Kids's World - A stage showcasing bands either comprised of younger musicians or groups performing family music.
This is a day dedicated to checking out bands, listening to speakers and seeing clinics in their EcoTent and Healthy Hut, playing in Kids's World, browsing over 150 exhibitors, feasting on their food court and relaxing in the Oasis Beer and Wine Garden.
