Since the inception of Nova Scotia Music Week in 1997, the music community has gathered together to participate in a range of educational and networking opportunities while honoring and celebrating our artists and industry professionals. Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week engages the Music Nova Scotia membership and music industry at large while showcasing emerging and established artists to the public. Music Week is held over four days in November with workshops, receptions, a trade show and dozens of showcases, including the Industry/Music Awards Brunch and Gala Awards.
Through the pilot initiative of moving Music Week from Halifax to Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Music Week 2006 and 2007 became bigger than ever. Over 50 venue bookers and more than 500 delegates from across Nova Scotia attended the 2007 event, taking in 70 performances and celebrating more than 100 nominees for their contributions to Nova Scotia's music industry.
After ten years in Halifax, Nova Scotia Music Week went on the road to Liverpool in 2006 and 2007. In 2008 Nova Scotia Music Week was held in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, becoming a much larger event with nearly 600 delegates and over 200 volunteers. The 2008 conference also saw our first arena production of the Gala Awards and the inaugural Bringin' it Home Buyers Program.
The 2009 edition of Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week was held in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and became the biggest and most successful event to date. Music Nova Scotia presented 66 showcasing performances on 5 stages. 2009 also brought the digital artist educational conference and our first ever International Buyers Program.
For the second year in a row, Yarmouth will host Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week. Held this year from November 4-7, the festival and conference will showcases more than 60 performances, including one of the province’s biggest gala awards shows. The conference also attracts top industry professionals from around the world to lead educational workshops.
