Founded by the producers of the McDowell Mountain Music Festival (M3F), The Compound exists to provide the same result—participation in the areas of community, culture and charity. It’s a public structure where culturally informed, like-minded souls go to witness the collaboration of music and food on a regular basis. All performers will receive compensation for their performance.
The Compound features music 6 nights a week, with each show generally featuring 1 or 2 bands. The venue provides full sound and light systems and a house engineer. Backline may be available for bands in need.
While the venue is new, the concept began in 2004, at the inaugural M3F. Festival employees built a temporary structure during set-up, a gathering spot to relax with the McDowell Mountains in the distance. Referred to as “the compound”, it quickly turned into an after-party spot for festival employees, family, friends and a devoted group of regulars. Since that day, founders continue to enjoy the journey that proudly brings you The McDowell Mountain Music Festival and now, The Compound.
The Compound opens as a permanent establishment on November 7th, 2009.
