Musical performers of all genres are invited to submit, though they are primarily seeking local and regional acts. Compensation may be possible under certain circumstances, but most acts will play mainly for exposure. Artists can sell merchandise at a fully staffed merch booth. In addition, atists will receive hemp fest tshirts, water and beverages, and access to the VIP tent on the day of the event. Sound system and engineers will be provided.

Variety performers will work in a number of areas throughout the festival site including family, artist and holistic medical areas. Variety performers are invited to send an email of interest, brief description of talent and sample of past work, references, website or other appropriate details. We can imagine face painters, magicians, dance troupes, acrobats, stilt walkers, some of whom would work during stage entertainment, some of whom would provide spontaneous in crowd entertainment during breaks.

Above all, Tacoma Hempfest wishes to portray and include the diversity of cannabis culture. This includes not only arts and entertainment, but also food and merchandise vendors, outreach organizations, healing arts, and industry.

Coverage of Tacoma Hempfest:

  • "Somebody in Tacoma has a huge sack. Cajones, I mean. Moxie. Hempfest in Tacoma. We've had festivals celebrating queer pride. We've had marches against war. We've had parties featuring full on nudity and celebration of sexual freedom. Now Hempfest." -Paul Schrag

  • "On Saturday, June 26, organizers from across the state celebrated the 1st Annual Tacoma Hempfest at Wright Park. The weather was perfect for a day out as thousands converged and brought attention to the cannabis plant, as well as highlighting the injustice done to Canadian citizen Marc Emery who many feel is wrongly incarcerated in the United States for selling seeds." -Hemp News

  • "A couple of weeks ago at Hell's Kitchen I ran into Big Wheel Stunt Show's Evan Nagle, who was excited about an all-star jam he was putting together for the finale of the inaugural Tacoma Hempfest, which took place Saturday at Wright Park. While I knew Nagle could shred, who knew he was such a compelling soul man, too?" -Ernest Jasmin
