The only requirement for selection is that the artist has some sort of body of recordings. Existing press is a plus but not required.

Tyler from Banter Records said this to say, on behalf of The Antiques and City Lights:

"Two of our artists were honored with the “Discovering the Undiscovered” feature in Filter Magazine – The Antiques and City Light. The Antiques especially benefited from this and headlined a Barker Block show in LA that was sponsored by Filter. This feature ultimately led to Filter US Recordings co-releasing The Antiques’ album "Cicadas" and really taking them to the next level. We are a small label and I think this proves that Sonicbids really works to get artists of all sizes heard and given the respect they deserve!"

Nive Nielsen had this to say:

My experience with Filter was absolutely great - maybe the best one I’ve had so far, in terms of Sonicbids applications. They contacted and helped me make a banner etc. I wrote a bunch of times with questions, and got a prompt, patient and helpful reply immediately. The best part about being selected is it got me a lot of attention - increase in web hits, but also after Filter, we got picked up by several blogs and now the article is quoted in other magazines. But maybe the really best part was that I felt validated as a musician. I read Filter myself, and they wanted to spend some time on what I do. It gave me a huge confidence boost. It gives me more credibility as a serious musician with songs that are worth hearing.

Amelia Dunaway said:

"Being selected for 'Discovering the Undiscovered' has definitely given me the leverage to further promote my music that only a magazine feature can provide. It's so difficult these days to get the attention of a publication, particularly for new and emerging artists, so I think it's rad that Filter is making it a point to feature underground music. They have been professional, responsive, and have kept me in mind whenever a licensing opportunity has come up. Filter's 'Discovering the Undiscovered' is a stepping stone that has already proven to be great exposure, and will continue to be."

Caitlin Gutenberger of Two Sheds had this to say about their experience:

"After our submission was accepted, Filter contacted us personally to say how much they enjoyed our music and expressed interest in signing us to their label. We've since put out an EP through them, played some cool Filter Presents shows and had a chance to play the Filter Party at Cedar St. during SXSW 2008. They've also hooked us up with some great promo opportunities, and they help us with publicity and marketing."

Peter from Backlight Records had this to say, on behalf of Holler, Wild Rose:

"The FILTER feature was an invaluable vote of confidence in the band's music and has absolutely opened doors for others to experience their sound. We're very grateful for the exposure... as we continue to reach out to a larger audience."
