Fifteen artists from a wide range of fringe genres from anti-folk to experimental electronica will perform at the 2011 event. Selected bands will be provided with accommodation in the famous Viennese artist Hotel Fürstenhof and catering. Fees/travel compensation to be negotiated.
Past performers include Wovenhand, Nina Nastasia, Grant Hart (Hüsker Dü), Scott Matthew, Chris Garneau, The Hidden Cameras, William Fitzsimmons, Howe Gelb (Giant Sand), Chris Eckman, Wallis Bird, Michael Gira and more.
For the past 8 years Bluebird has been held at the end of every November and welcomes artists from around the world to present their works on stage. 2011’s edition will take place in the 500 person Vienna club, Porgy & Bess, over the course of three days from November 24th through the 26th.

About the Vienna Songwriting Association:
The Vienna Songwriting Association was formed in 2004 as a non-profit organization charged with promoting the art of songwriting in its most pure form. The association puts on a variety of workshops, symposiums, and events, of which Bluebird is the largest, in an effort to promote songwriting to the general public and provide recognition and help to those passionate individuals who have made it their lives.
