Prizes include a $1000 Martin guitar, $750 Kala Lacewood ukelele, $250 Shure microphone, a cool gift from Gibson Guitars, a prix fixe dinner for two to the renowned Cornelia Street Cafe, and more to be announced soon.
Submission deadline is midnight TBA, 2011. You may enter as many songs as you like!
All song submission fees go directly to support Feel the Music! * Songs will be considered in the following categories: A Capella, Acoustic, Alternative, Americana, Bluegrass, Blues, Country, Folk, Funk, Gospel, Jam Band, Jazz, Latin, Pop, Reggae, Rock, Singer/Songwriter, Soul, R&B, and World.
Judges include: legendary songwriters Ashford & Simpson, Grammy award winning record producers Mike Barbiero & Ted Perlman, hit record producers Mike Thorne, Steve Addabbo and Joel Jaffe, Songwriter's Guild songwriter Ann Ruckert, with others TBA. The total number artists performing: eighteen, including the three contest winners who will perform their winning songs.

The Songwriter's Beat Festival and Songwriting Contest is produced by acclaimed NYC performing singer-songwriters Valerie Ghent, Deni Bonet, Deborah Berg and Ann Klein whose credits include: Ashford & Simpson, Cyndi Lauper, Deborah Harry, Nina Simone, Sarah McLachlan, REM, Joan Osborne, Ani DiFranco, Black 47 and many more.
The Songwriter's Beat is New York's premiere performing songwriter series, now in its 11th year. Hosted by singer-songwriter Valerie Ghent, four up-and-coming songwriters perform new material in a supportive and intimate atmosphere. Every third Wednesday of the month, four songwriters of varying musical styles perform original songs and are encouraged to try out their newest material and arrangements. The series culminates in a week-long Songwriter's Beat festival each July, featuring performers from throughout the years. Founded in 2000 by Valerie Ghent, The Songwriter's Beat has presented hundreds of songwriters from the Tri-State area as well as visiting songwriters from other parts of the United States, Canada, France, Cuba, the UK, Ireland, Australia, South Africa, Sweden, Denmark and Japan.

Feel the Music! is a nonprofit organization which brings music and inspiration to children, families and adults impacted by trauma, loss or illness. Founded in 2005 to serve 9/11 families, Feel the Music! now partners with hospitals, a summer camp for teens impacted by terrorism, WTC responders, public schools and offers concerts, workshops, lessons, performance and recording opportunities, retreats, music mentoring, teacher training programs and opportunities for international exchange.
