Summary

The Live Oak Music Festival, or Live Oak, as it has become affectionately known, is more than just a music festival — it is an experience rooted in music and community.

Live Oak pays all selected artists a competitive fee, serves very good meals and hospitality backstage, and provides ground transportation between the airport, hotel and venue. Lodging may be negotiated as part of the performance fee. The festival, which will take place June 15-17, 2012, attracts 3000 people per day.

Live Oak presents music that represents the diversity of genres played by their beneficiary, KCBX Public Radio: primarily roots music with an emphasis on acoustic performance. Folk, bluegrass, blues, world music, jazz, classical, reggae, soul, R&B, Celtic, Cajun, and more will be considered.

Previous performers include: Toots and the Maytals, Mavis Staples, Arlo Guthrie, Rickie Lee Jones, Los Lobos, Baaba Maal, Nanci Griffith, Richard Thompson, Odetta, Nashville Bluegrass Band, Blind Boys of Alabama, Altan, Janis Ian, Charles Brown, Anonymous 4, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Edgar Meyer, Mark O'Connor, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Trombone Shorty, Josh Ritter, Tuck & Patti, Bettye Lavette, Claire Lynch, Dr. Lonnie Smith, the Texas Tornados and many others

Held each Father's Day weekend, this concert and camping event in the hills above Santa Barbara, California is a journey into a timeless place that is far removed from ties and clocks, suits and schedules.

100% of Live Oak proceeds go to support KCBX Public Radio.
