The International 6th Annual Squeaky Wheel Tour® for the Missing is an opportunity for you to become an official GINA Artist and help a missing person gain media exposure during one or more of your already booked gigs/events throughout the months of October and November 2011 (you will be asked to include these in your submission).
Please note: Due to the sensitive nature of missing persons please do not submit material with offensive language. As a GINA Artist you not only gain media attention for your missing person, but your music and the venue become a spotlight for your local media. The principle remains that when you give you get more in return. Imagine if the person you profile at your event is found. Wouldn't that feeling be worth it all?
How SWT® works:
- Once you enter on Sonic Bids you will be automatically added to the www.411Gina.org website
-
For your SWT® appropriate gigs to be part of SWT®, they must receive that information ASAP to list on their site. Appropriate meaning: Not a private event. They have had events in pubs, clubs, bars, lounges, sports arenas, churches, flea markets, TV and radio shows and coffee houses.
-
They list your gig on the SWT® page/site and assign you the missing person/s.
-
They have links of our PR and script of what to say at your event.
-
They will show you how to insert your information into the PR and make sure that your local media contacts know of your event. Since this is an international event the media almost always covers your event if they are notified. If you need help with this we can assist you.
-
Prior to your official SWT® Event go to your SWT® listing, print out the flyer of your missing person and make copies. Make enough B & W copies for about 1/4 of your audience to take a flyer.
-
At your gig: Tell your audience about SWT®, read the missing persons flyer and ask the audience to take a flyer to post in the community.
Since they started in 2001 over 1,100 people have been found using this approach:
- Someone seeing the event/missing person on the local print news/radio/TV had a tip.
-
Someone attending the event had a tip.
-
Someone seeing a flyer posted by event attendees had a tip.
-
Someone checking out your gig listing on our site had a tip.
-
Many GINA Artists post their missing person/s on their site...tips come in.
-
All of the above points more eyes to www.411Gina.org and more missing have a chance to be FOUND.
Additional opportunities for select Sonic Bids GINA Artists: We are scheduling 9-11 "red carpet" type events throughout the U.S. and possibly Canada. Selected GINA Artists will be asked to participate in the event local to their area based on their participation, songs submission and fan base in the area. Your travel expenses will not be covered. They anticipate national and local media at many of these events, as well as, several well known artists/entertainers on the bill. They anticipate additional opportunities for the artists that elect to participate in this international effort. "Red Carpet" Cities are the following, but are not limited to: San Diego, Los Angeles, Nashville, NYC, Philadelphia, DC, Indianapolis...more to be announced. Check for weekly updates or www.411Gina.org for updates on "red carpet" events and celebrity involvement.
