Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival enters its 22nd year in 2012. With more than 40 sponsors, 7 venues/stages and 80,000 attendees, it is the largest celebration of Jazz and Blues on Canada's East Coast. The event is set to take place September 11-16, in Fredericton, NB, Canada. More than 80 performers are expected to play, and half are Maritime performers. At least 3 slots have been reserved for Sonicbids artists.
Only artists from Atlantic Canada may apply, or artists from outside Atlantic Canada who already plan on touring New Brunswick in September of 2012. Harvest is accepting Maritime musicians in the blues, jazz and folk related genres. Bands are paid fairly and the festival has a substantial hospitality component; wages, travel and accommodation are negotiated by the Artist Director.
In 2008, the festival was voted ECMA Event of the Year, and will continue the tradition in 2012 with 4 tents, 1 soft seat and 2 acoustic stages. It is dedicated to the promotion of local music.
Past performers include: Buddy Guy, Levon Helm, Taj Mahal, Warren Haynes, Steven Page, Susan Tedeschi, Bailey Brothers, Weak Size Fish, JJ Grey and Mofro, "Original P," and more. A complete list of past performers and more info is available on the festival's website.
