West Coast Songwriters International Song Contest 2013

Artists entering the West Coast Songwriters (WCS) International Song Contest 2013 have the chance to win an impressive grand prize package and a smaller prize pack for winners in each category.

Prizes include:

• The grand prize Winner will receive a Voyager-Air Package with Voyager-Air Songwriter Series Acoustic Guitar and Case valued at $700. The Dreadnought is a legend among pro guitarists worldwide: there’s an unmistakable punch and clarity from its full-size body. The grand prize winner will also receive a WCS tshirt, an official Winner certificate and a Conference pass for the 33rd annual WCS Music Conference - September 7 & 8 2013. If the winner is a performing songwriter they will also be invited to perform their winning song at the Sunset Concert at the Conference in front of all the Music Industry Guests, and will receive free hotel accommodation.
  


• Second prize Winner will also receive a Voyager-Air Package with Voyager-Air Songwriter Series Acoustic Guitar and Case valued at $700 and will also receive a WCS tshirt, an official Winners certificate.

  Each category winner will receive a quality Condenser microphone (If they don’t win the overall prize)
• ALL winners (including individual category winners) will receive WCS t-shirts and Official Winner Certificates.

WCS Categories include: Adult Contemporary, Alternative, Americana, Avant-garde, Bluegrass, Blues, Broadway, Cabaret, Celtic, Children's Music, Classical, Comedy, Christian/Gospel/Inspirational, Country, Electronic/Dance/DJ, Folk, Funk, Hip-Hop/Rap, Instrumental, Jazz, Latin, Metal, New Age/Ambient, Misc/Other, Pop, Reggae, Rock, Singer/Songwriter, Urban/R&B, and World.

There is an "Instrumental" category, but not a "lyric only" category. All songs must be original. If there are less than 3 songs in a category, the category will be moved to miscellaneous. Judges have the right to re-categorize a song if they feel it's in an incorrect genre.

This Contest is open to amateur and professional songwriters. Signature of parent/guardian required for each entrant under 18 years of age. Employees of WCS, their families, subsidiaries, and affiliates are not eligible.

Winners will be selected by an Executive Committee comprised of noted singer/songwriters. Past judges and Conference guests include Hit Songwriters and producers Narada Michael Walden, Steve Seskin, Andre Pessis, George Merrill, Bonnie Hayes, and others. Songs will be judged based on melody, composition, and lyrics (when applicable). The quality of performance and production will not be considered. Prizes will be awarded jointly to all authors of any song.

WCS has been in existence since 1979 and its purpose is to offer opportunity and education to songwriters. With 15 and 20 events a month, WCS continues to be one of the most active songwriter associations in the USA.
