The Whisky A Go-Go, located on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, opened its doors in 1964, and is one of the oldest rock venues in the nation. The club has played host to artists such as The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Guns 'n' Roses, and many more. Rock fans of all ages gather on the dance floor to absorb everything from green alt rockers to heavy metal heroes. The Whisky A Go-Go was one of the places that popularized Go-Go dancing when the club initially started the whole ‘trend’ of having a mini-skirted girl dancing above the crowd in a cage.
