Summary

Winterfolk, The Great Indoor Music Event is now in its 12th year.

Toronto's Winterfolk Festival is looking for at least 10 Sonicbids artists to fill showcase stages February 14-16, 2014.

Presenting more than 200 artists over three days in downtown Toronto, the ease and accessibility of Winterfolk's programming makes it a haven for booking agents, promoters, and media. Every year, talent scouts from venues such as Harbourfront, City of Toronto Events, and the Canadian National Exhibition attend Winterfolk's showcases. It is not uncommon for live TV such as CBC or City TV to show up and film segments for the evening news or Whats On entertainment section.

Past Winterfolk performers include JUNO, Toronto Independent Music Award recipients, and Canadian Folk Music Award-winners. Other past performers have gone on to book international tours a result of their showcases, in addition to receiving coverage from major media outlets.

All selected artists will receive the following:

  • A paid 45-minute set and a minimum of one additional shared set as part of a workshop or seminar; there are 10 slots reserved exclusively for Sonicbids artists.

  • Full Winterfolk Festival publicity and promotion! Selected
artists will have their pictures and/or bio featured on the
    Winterfolk
    website
, in print advertisements, flyers, the Winter folk
program guide, and in other applicable forms of promotion.

  • Radio spot and interview consideration. Your band's name and contact info will be sent to press lists for inclusion in radio and other media. In addition, press and other prominent industry people will be alerted to your set times and locations. Last year, 24 performers were booked for radio and TV interviews, and the festival was featured in all major newspapers, including Hot Ticket of the Week in Now Magazine (over 100,000 circulation).

  • Artist passes for access to the stage, backstage, and hospitality privileges valid for the duration of the festival. You will also receive passes to attend private artist parties and an information session.

  • A spot in the festival's merchandise area; Winterfolk will take care of sales for all of your merch-related products.

  • Please visit www.winterfolk.com for complete details.

For the second year, Winterfolk will now be hosted in various venues throughout the luxurious Eaton Chelsea Hotel (formerly Delta Chelsea) in downtown Toronto. It is the largest hotel in Canada, offers comfortable seating, good sightlines, excellent acoustics, and is ideally suited to present blues and roots music.

Winterfolk will do everything they can to ensure that your festival weekend is a rewarding personal and musical growth experience, and a large step forward in your career. The event will also include workshops for guitar playing, songwriting, industry seminars for musicians, and more. Genres include, but are not restricted to: singer/songwriter, roots, blues, acoustic, folk, ethnic, pop, world, native, country, and children's.

Winterfolk is committed to offering performance opportunities and public exposure to new or emerging artists - and all artists with little or no festival experience. Winterfolk is a division of 'The Association of Artists for a Better World'), a registered non-profit organization in the Province of Ontario, Canada.
