The In the Dead of Winter festival is an annual acoustic based festival held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from January 26-30, 2010; they are currently accepting submissions for performance consideration. All artists will be compensated for their performances and some may receive travel and accommodations. This is a great festival for artists looking to perform in an intimate atmosphere. Venue sizes range from 60-1000 seats.
There are 10 reserved slots during the early pricing period, and at least 30 reserved slots all together.
It is of particular importance to the festival to not only celebrate the excellence of our musicians, but to also provide venues for artists who have not yet had the opportunity to perform their music to a wider audience. It will host 50 artists encompassing Singer/Songwriters, Folk, Bluegrass, Americana, and Alt-country. Past performers include Jolie Holland, Hayden, Great Lake Swimmers, Justin Rutledge, Lynn Miles, Jill Barber, Jenn Grant, Rose Cousins, Catherine MacLellan, Jim Bryson, and Buck 65.
The goal of the festival is to bring a diverse group of musicians together to perform and meet one another in a professional environment. The festival prides themselves on the intimate listening room performances that showcase the diversity of folk/roots music in the Atlantic Region, Canada and the United States.
