Summary

Don't miss your LAST CHANCE to submit to Indie Week Toronto, a unique international music festival looking for the next big thing to bring to Ireland. Indie Week is an artist-friendly festival providing valuable opportunities for networking, exposure, and education through industry panels and artist showcases. First prize is worth over $5,000 with $1,000 in cash, recording time, etc. 85% of artists will be selected through Sonicbids. All artists that apply will be given credentials to attend INDIE WEEK’s industry panels, regardless of whether or not you’re selected to perform./n/nINDIE WEEK is an event open to all artists from around the world looking to showcase. One of the many artists chosen will be voted the top act of INDIE WEEK TORONTO and be awarded a tour of Ireland throughout INDIE WEEK IRELAND in 2011 (includes free flights for up to 5 band members).


Taking place October 13-17, 2010 throughout the hottest rock clubs of downtown Toronto, artists get the perks of a festival performance - building a new fan base, meeting industry, networking with other bands and media exposure. Accepted international acts will be given the opportunity to perform additional shows to their judged showcase.
85% of the artists selected will be Sonicbids artists. INDIE WEEK TORONTO 2009 winners Darlings of Chelsea toured Ireland and Spain as a result of being the top act.


All artists that apply will be given credentials to attend INDIE WEEK’s industry panels, regardless of whether or not you’re selected to perform. INDIE WEEK showcases are judged by members of the music industry. Past acts have met producers, managers, lawyers, promoters, etc. who became involved with their careers (regardless of whether they won the top spot or not!). Some past judges have been:


  • Gavin Brown (producer of BILLY TALENT)

  • Nik Seymour (bassist of Crowded House)

  • Stephen O'Regan (BalconyTV)
  • Esthero

  • Marky Ray the Rock n Roll Mercenary (Toured with Nine Inch Nails / Jim Rose Circus Sideshow)

  • SONY/BMG, Universal Music, EMI, Underground Operations, The Agency Group, record label reps, producers, managers, lawyers, media, print media, bloggers... you get the picture.


Artists selected for INDIE WEEK can gain exposure through local online partners such as IndieCan.com, WeeklyMusicReport.com and others – even the BBC were at INDIE WEEK! Please look below for a list of media coverage.


The festival is strategically scheduled between Pop Montreal, CMJ, and Halifax Pop Explosion, allowing acts to maximize their touring budgets.

Australian, Hamilton & East Coast Kitchen Showcases have been added to the bill! Late last-call parties can also be expected.


Bands signed to indie labels are eligible, including indie labels with major distribution (NOT ACCEPTED: ARTISTS SIGNED DIRECTLY TO A MAJOR LABEL OR HAVE DISTRIBUTION DIRECTLY FROM A MAJOR LABEL).
