CME Artist Services is looking for at least 5-10 Sonicbids artists to play up to two shows each at the Lancaster Music Festival in Lancaster, UK October 8-10, 2010. The festival is a celebration of Lancaster’s great musical talent and diversity while also inviting national and international acts to help provide a wide variety of superb music including, but not limited to, jazz, blues, world, classical, folk, indie, punk, rock, metal, pop and more.
Selected artists will be compensated for their performance – compensation is based on the venue (whether ticketed or flat guarantee) and the size of the act but will typically be between £50GBP (soloists), £100GBP (duos) and £200GBP (bands) per show with most acts performing two shows. All genres are accepted.
The Lancaster Music Festival started last year with 18 venues, 60 acts and 80 shows with an attendance of more than 2,000 people (conservative estimate, the estimated total was 6000 but this would include repeat visits to venues) and was so successful it was decided that a larger event would be planned for 2010 with 24 venues and over 150 acts. The event will be located at existing licensed music venues in the city of Lancaster.
In addition, Creative Lancashire will be launching its Supersonic Music Sessions enabling music industry representatives from major, regional and indie labels to present workshops, panels and judge showcases of visiting performers.
Lancaster is to the Northwest of the UK what Austin is to the Southwest of the USA. Hundreds of bands are based here (over 300 registered in 2008 not including classical) representing all genres in a city that boasts over 30 live music venues all within walking distance of each other. The festival will feature over 100 artists. Sponsors include the Lancaster Brewery, Soundsavers, The City of Lancaster, Admiral Taverns, Creative Lancashire, all the participating venues, and CME Artist Services who are based in the city.
Lancaster boasts views across Northern Europe’s largest bay (Morecambe Bay) to the English Lake District, a medieval castle still used for its original purpose (a prison), diverse pubs, restaurants and nightclubs, two universities, moors, mountains, salmon river, and key railroad links: Lancaster is less than two and a half hours direct on the train from London or Edinburgh. Manchester International Airport is a one and a half hour direct train ride.
Please note that artist travel costs to Lancaster are not covered, nor are we able to book you additional shows though if you are selected we will provide you a list of venues relevant to your genre so that you can try and book additional shows yourself. We will also provide you with work authorization if you are not an EU member (e.g. from America) and a hearty evening meal (yes, it might be fish and chips if you are playing the Park but Hodgson’s Chippy has been acclaimed the best fish and chip shop in the NW of England!)
CME Artist Services has been running tours, exchanges, and events without interruption since 2001, mainly focused in the UK.
