Blowout Lounge in New York City

Real Live Creation Presents: Renee Sebastian's Blowout Lounge, where you can "Taste emerging music before it bursts."



Urban soul acts are strongly encouraged to submit their EPK!


This monthly showcase is held on every third Saturdays at a New York premier venue. Past venues include: Hammerstein Lounge, Nightingale Lounge, Harlem Grill, and MoPitkin's. The event features five soul acts in one amazing night. If you play any type of Soul, we want to hear your music! Examples include but are not limited to: Pop Soul, Spoken Word Soul, Soul Jazz, R&B Soul, Funk and Hip-Hop Soul, and Acoustic Soul. All booking is done two months in advance.



Each act is allotted a 30-minute set with a 10-minute change over. We provide a backline that includes the following: Drum Kit (bring your own pedals and cymbals), bass amp/head, and keyboard.



This is one of the few showcases in New York City where independent artists are given an opportunity to perform in a premier venue and earn compensation for their hard work. The top two draws of the night will receive 50% of the door after the 10th paying fan, while the bottom four draws will receive 40% of the door after the 10th paying fan.



Since the inaugural event in April 2006, notable featured artists that have already played the Blowout Lounge showcase include: SP!T film star and spoken word poet Oveous Maximus, vocalist/rapper St. Juste, Danish Soul-singer Jonas, and PJ Morton, son of Gospel legend Bishop Morton. Past guest appearances also include HBO Def Poet Mark Gonzales and HBO actor and poet muMs. Various record industry professionals from the likes of Sony and Universal, as well as journalists from Vibe Magazine, Creme Magazine, Verbalism, and Giant Step have also appeared at this event.
