The PSA Annual Song Contest 2007 is sponsored by the Portland Songwriters Association - an organization founded to further the aspirations of songwriters, and one that has been doing so for more than ten years. This contest is open to all songwriters, who may submit songs into nine different categories, including: Pop, Rock, Inspirational, Blues/Jazz/R&B, Country/Americana, Children's, Folk/Acoustic, Instrumental, and Other. Entries will be judged by music industry professionals, and judging will be based primarily on song composition elements (melody, lyric, structure, etc.), with production and performance aspects receiving secondary emphasis.
The top 10 songs in each category will advance to the next level of final-round judging. The winner in each category will receive $100, and one entry, chosen from the nine category winners, will be named "Grand Prize Winner" and will receive an additional $100 in cash. Winners in each category will be invited to perform at the PSA's annual Song Contest Showcase in April, 2008 in Portland, Oregon.
Please Note: All song submissions must be accompanied by lyrics, unless submitted to the Instrumental category. There is no limit to the number of songs that can be submitted.
